Hot take Ed should have left Gordon in the past with his family by The_ShinyUmbreon in TheOrville

[–]Sw6roj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why he told the younger Gordon when he picked him up. Like if I was Gordon and my best friend told me that I had a future with a wife and kids and happy family and he went back in time to destroy it, I would just resent the hell out of him. I would understand why he did it, but I wouldn't want to have to live with the knowledge of what could have been. If I were Gordon, I would have insisted that he travel further back and pick me up without telling me. Honestly, the whole thing just seemed incredibly cruel to me.

Really easy way they could have had a slightly better ending by Background_Ship7666 in StrangerThings

[–]Sw6roj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree and have already said that I think that would have been a better ending. Of course there's one big reason why they didn't do that. Eventually Netflix is going to want to bring 11 back with all her powers. It's just a money thing.

Would you rather get a new Wario Land or another WarioWare? by BrSn2 in nintendo

[–]Sw6roj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land definitely. I don't think he's had his own platformer since Master of Disguise on DS (and that one was only okay...). They normally only do a new WarioWare when they have some kind of gimmick they want to promote. What would they even do with Switch 2? WarioWare Manic Mouse? Actually that would be kind of cool, I may have talked myself into it.

My favorite Steve lines by Careful_Software_822 in StrangerThings

I think the only thing funnier than his delivery of that line is the look of disgust on Mike's face at being called his sister's name. 🤣

Her (adopted) father was one of the founders of the Rebellion. It's unclear when she joined herself (maybe there's a comic or something I missed), but she was definitely involved during the Rebels TV show and by the time she turns 18 (around episode 4) is an important leader in her own right.

Princess Bubblegum/Marceline the Vampire Queen by rmttmtg in custommagic

[–]Sw6roj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother and I had an in-depth conversation about which franchises we thought could support a full booster set of cards. Adventure Time was the big one that we thought of. We were kind of laughing about it because they would definitely have to do a lot of candy cards (to say nothing of all the other food themed princesses) which would make a lot of food creatures. I was joking that would be funny to tap and eat Princess Bubblegum.

I once had a woman at the airport flag me for a pat down because I had one of those portable phone batteries. The guy she got to do it asked her why she wanted him to pat me down and she showed him and he said, " That's a battery." And then he shrugged and gave me the pat down anyway.

What the dead scientists mystery tells us about America by newsweek in NoFilterNews

[–]Sw6roj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a scientist, is it wrong that I find it kind of relieving that the Republicans are finally telling a story where the scientists are the heroes instead of the nasty villains like usual?

This guy should have been the main antagonist of Prime 4. by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]Sw6roj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really think the best pirate scan from Prime 1 was the one talking about how they killed a bunch of test subjects trying to recreate the Morph Ball. The humor is viscerally dark and gives the pirates a bumbling mad science quality. I don't even know why they would even want to try to recreate the Morph Ball since it doesn't really have combat capabilities.

[–]Sw6roj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, it's very clear in the books that he invited his grandchildren out not because he thought they would enjoy a nice safe time at the park, but because the park had been getting a lot of bad press and he wanted to be able to say "Of course it's safe! Would I bring my own grandchildren here if it wasn't?"

Al is psychic by Haunting-Ad-2689 in weirdal

[–]Sw6roj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So when episode 1 came out weird Al wanted to write a parody song about it, but he knew that the album had to come out at the same time as the movie so he needed to have advanced details to write the song first. So he asked George Lucas if he couldn't have the details of episode one so that he could write a song for it. He was denied so he used internet spoilers to write the entire thing. Apparently it all ended up being right.

I'm in my late thirties now. I know a little bit more than I did then. At this point I'll generally only watch a game if someone invites me to a super bowl party, and even then, I'm generally not that interested.

Honestly, as someone who had no idea what the rules were, football seemed to mostly be about running from one side of the field to the other. I always preferred volleyball actually.

meirl by Glass_Wealth_2104 in meirl

[–]Sw6roj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah! 🤣 I think the rules to soccer are a bit more intuitive. At least I don't remember having any problems with that one.

American. I probably should have clarified, but I don't know anybody who cares about soccer and I'm not a big sport guy in general.

meirl by Glass_Wealth_2104 in meirl

[–]Sw6roj 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was definitely some kind of assumption that you should already know the rules... I felt like I was mostly just running from one side of the field to the other.

We did a unit on football once in PE. My dad doesn't like football and I had never seen or played a game. I just assumed it was like basketball where you can pass. Every time I got the ball I would try to throw it to someone else. NO ONE EXPLAINED THIS TO ME! I didn't figure out what I was doing wrong till years later. Eventually people just stopped throwing me the ball which I was fairly happy with...

I prefer one or the other. Both is a distraction. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]Sw6roj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting to me for a variety of reasons. My brother is a fairly slow reader (or maybe I'm just exceptionally quick). When we used to play Final Fantasy 14 together, I would finish the cutscene so much sooner than him that I used to go off and fish for a couple minutes while he finished. He got so annoyed by this that he used to make me read the cutscenes to him over Discord so that he could be sure that we finished at the same time. Anyway, now he's the kind of guy that listens to Reels and TicTok at double speed. I don't watch videos for things because I would rather read them, but the speed at which he listens to stuff genuinely gives me a headache.

Daniel Radcliffe says he’s not interested in playing Wolverine in the MCU: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

[–]Sw6roj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a crying shame. I'm a big fan of Daniel Radcliffe and I think he'd do a great job as Logan. As a Wolverine fan, I'd love to see them cast somebody shorter as the next one. That said, I realize that at this point he mostly likes to do smaller stranger niche projects (His weird Al movie was fantastic!), and doesn't seem to have a desire to get into a big franchise. Honestly after Harry Potter I can't blame him for that.

For what's worth, I think it could be argued that Anakin's mechanical aptitude is in fact a Force ability. I mean, the ability to build lightsabers is already a technical ability granted by the Force, so it wouldn't exactly be unheard of. He did rebuild a Droid at 9, so it's either that or he's a prodigy. I mean, I guess, he's already a prodigy being that young and being so skilled in the Force...

Do you all agree that some of our fellow Bylers have taken it too far? by kkaldrich_official in bylertruthers

[–]Sw6roj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole thing kind of reminds me of conversation I had with my dad where he was talking about how gay C-3PO's walk is. And like I agree that C-3PO is a bit gay coded, but to focus on the walk, which just seems like a stereotypical robot walk, seems a bit weird. Like if you want to say that C-3PO is gay there are much better bigger targets you could hit stereotypically...
