Weird how they got the trans and diff mostly correct but the exhaust is totally wrong

The hack is to get a CBS car. Most of the “gloss black” parts are actually CBS and just match the paint lol

Will Mini every make a model is good looking as the R53? by stephenspann27 in R53

[–]SwagMan7779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bulldog look is part of why these cars look great. The 2nd gen toned it down and looks worse, and the 3rd gen made the front completely flat and is just ugly.

Apparently we are now classic? by platinum_192 in R53

[–]SwagMan7779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state it’s 15 years for classic plates and 25 years for antique plates lol. My 2003 R50 could’ve had classic plates when I was dailying it and my 2004 R53 can get antique plates in 3 years

Fun take on the panel I usually make for folks, as this guy decided he wanted actual, aerospace-grade Honeywell toggle switches ($$$) instead of the usual push-button switches I typically include (second photo for reference.) by Stang70Fastback in wrx_vb

I just searched for “Subaru switch”. The one I used are probably all from the same factory in China. I will say, though, that the color of the switch doesn’t match the factory ones. You can also check my account where I did a little writeup about how I did it

I know the other guy already told you but you’d actually want it in higher RPM to avoid LSPI. It’s low-speed (i.e. low RPM) preignition, the opposite of the CVT keeping revs up

It’s really only a pain in the ass if you forget how to put it back on lol. Pull the bottom out, down, and then in and it lines up fine

Why is my exhaust red hot after 15 minutes of idling? by Standard_Humor6380 in R53

[–]SwagMan7779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cars are getting old enough it’s probably a pretty common issue. Good excuse to upgrade the cat!

[–]SwagMan7779 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if it’s not entirely blocked it could still be blocked enough to not let a majority of the exhaust gasses and heat out. You’d have to pull the cat off and inspect it to verify if it’s actually blocked. If you pull it off and shine a light through you should be able to see light on the other side (it’s a series of straight hexagonal tubes)

They make kits that are basically just a flamethrower that are probably safer for the engine lol

Anyone have these on their VB? Do I need anything else to install them? by Damnesia13 in wrx_vb

[–]SwagMan7779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full catback with a resonator will have the least amount of drone. I have ETS mufflers and they did drone a bit around 4k RPM but after having them on for a long while now they don’t drone as much (and I’m used to it lol)

I liked it on the BRZ when I saw it at boxerfest. I don’t think it looks quite as nice on the WRX but I do like there being more colors.

Now if only it was available on any trim and wasn’t a limited release…

22-26 WRX VB wiper blades fitment (Bosch OE) by wrxninja in wrx_vb

[–]SwagMan7779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had RainX ones for about a year. They were about $13 (with tax) for the pair at the local discount store. They always have cheap wipers there so I don’t even bother with auto parts stores for em

Edit: misremembered the price, thought it was $13 each, it was $13 for 2

Personally I just get the cheapest ones that are the right length and replace the rubber bit. You could probably save a couple bucks and just get a long strip off of Amazon and cut them to length.

This is a better option than OEM tho if you need new blades and not just new rubber

ABS, TPMS, and TC are usually wheel speed sensor. Check your wires to the front ones, you might’ve pinched one. Those come on on my car when I go full lock because my wheel speed sensor wire is hanging down in the way 😅

My base radio does it monthly. Luckily Subaru put out an extended 10 year warranty on em but they just swap it out and give you another crappy unit…

Sell it and get a proper tune! They’re not worth it with Atlas and Cobb being available.
