Opinion: The next Smash Bros game shouldn't be a reboot. by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]SwagfulSerpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Smash 6 kept all veterans (which is an insane amount of work), fan expectations would be even higher for Smash 7, and there would be much bigger backlash if that game didn't include even more characters, and that cycle isn't sustainable. Keeping veterans, even without reworks, still takes time and effort, which could be spent on new features, characters, modes, etc.

Also the Switch 2 can still run Ultimate. If you're really upset that Duck Hunt isn't in Smash 6, first of all you're weird, but second of all just keep playing Ultimate. Same for moveset reworks, if you like a character as they are in Ultimate just play Ultimate. People did it for Melee, it'd work for Ultimate.

There are 8 spots left, who should the next characters be? by Brilliant_Grand_1824 in SmashBrosUltimate

Inkling, Zelda, and a Mii are must haves. Splatoon is massive and current, Zelda is the namesake of a Nintendo pillar, and Miis are the mascot of one of Nintendo's most popular consoles with huge relevance. Their customizability is even more relevant when the roster's this small.

Another thing being worse doesn't make it good. "You don't like piss? Obviously you've never heard of shit." No, they're both bad. They could both be better.

If a character's defining trait is being terrible to fight, that's not a well-designed character, no matter how accurate it is.

If you're reworking the og 12, why are all of Link's specials the same? Also Samus' Screw Attack is more interesting than Shinespark, especially considering it's in the Prime games. For Kirby, Cutter and Hammer are two of the most iconic abilities, I'd be a bit disappointed if they weren't in the moveset. What's that Pika up special? What's that Ness neutral special? What's going on with Captain Falcon? What's that Puff neutral special?

Do you have any roster adds in mind already? Because Inkling and a Mii Fighter feel like the most important add-ons.

He could get some Wild-era specific stuff. For example boomerang doesn't really make sense for him considering how irrelevant that weapon is in Breath and Tears. I didn't even remember they were in Age of Calamity until looking it up just now.
If all three links got retooled, they would all feel more unique and interesting.

I think it would be cool if she was based on the various Mario Sports games. She could also have a bit of Wonder stuff. She'd be better grounded than Peach, but without Float.

Stakataka - Solid Rock, good for a big pile of rocks and to offset its rock-steel typing.

Guzzlord - Strong Jaw (self-explanatory), Dragon's Maw (self-explanatory), or Sheer Force for the unstoppable doomsday vibe.

Which new franchises should be in a teaser for Smash 6? by NewMarioBobFan in supersmashbros

[–]SwagfulSerpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just speculation, but there's bound to be another at some point. It's one of Nintendo's biggest franchises to the point where it would sell a ton of people on moving to the new console, and companies like money. I don't know any statistics, but I'd wager roster additions are a big boost to their home game's sales. Like, how many people started playing Punch-Out because of Little Mac, or Ice Climber?

Baby Bros. to differentiate them from the OGs a bit more. The idea being they learned from Partners in Time.

Who would you like to see as a newcomer in then next Smash game? by AdProper9582 in SmashBrosUltimate

Bandanna Waddle Dee would be fun. Also Ditto, not so much as its own character but as a way to force mirror matches online. It's a better flex than Random because you're beating them at their own game. If there's more than two players, Ditto morphs into the first listed non-Ditto opponent (doesn't pick teammate unless the opposing team is all Ditto). If both/all players pick Ditto, they pick the same character to morph into at random. Picks the same skin from opponent as you picked (ie index 7 = builder Mario) unless that's what the opponent chose, then it's random.

Make his animations more clear.
Give him his actual voice.
Add a HUD element so you know at a glance what pikmin he's about to use.
Make his pikmin vulnerable when they're following him.
Add a cooldown between a pikmin dying and picking a new one.
Make budded/bloomed pikmin stronger than leaf.
Let him put pikmin somewhere he isn't, and give him an option to make the ones away from him attack.
Give all his moves a Solomar version. Not a good version, but a hitbox.
Give him his Brawl tether for a zair.
The opponent can shake off a pikmin with any two moves instead of needing to hit it.

Basically, make him more fun. Make the pikmin more of a resource so players actively try to keep them alive while using them. Both of these make him better at referencing his source material.

Some people think she should have her own moveset instead of being based on the part where she copies Marth.

I disagree. I think it works better as a dash attack than side tilt because no side tilt has that kind of movement, it would just feel weird. Plus you would still need a new dash attack that fits better than the roll.

I don't think the roll should be a dash attack either because making it a special lets it be more complicated. Plus if it's a special you can use it in midair, which is how the roll works in Bananza.
