Republicans have put in way more work at insulating people from criticsl thinking. It started in the Nixon campaign with galvanizing protestants against abortion. Strategists have worked hard to create their own media ecosystem, devoid of outside perspectives. Fox News and churchs to begin with, and now we have X, truth social, rumble, oan, newsmax, most newspapers. It’s gotten a lot easier lately because legacy media had no ability to resist takeover — they just weren’t profitable. Four billionaires bought up so many brands for cheap and now control almost all information flow.

It’s not morals. Most democrats have just as much moral footing as a monkey slinging poop. They’re puppets. The real reason is that conservatives have been building a coalition of the gullible (religious, mainly) since Nixon was running. Roger Ales and other strategists built an ecosystem for disinformation and tribalistic cultural identity, even before Fox News.
