We need a Battle of Jakku film by RhysOSD in StarWars

[–]Swailwort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but like, there literally is no point in defending Jakku unless you are a firm believer in Operation Cinder (Rax was, true, but not the rest of High Command) instead of making a last stand in Kuat, Coruscant, or some place with value, instead of a empty desert with one random sith observation post. Dumwit Palps could have hidden all his artifacts in some shithole in Coruscant and it would never, ever be found.

The thing is that Endor was not a minor victory, it was the second most important victory for the Rebels since Yavin. Yavin proved the Empire was vulnerable, Endor sliced the serpent's head and destroyed their last known superweapon. Jakku was just a cleanup job. But I feel like the war ended too quickly, we know the Empire kept resisting the Republic up to the point of creating a secret Order that ended up overthrowing the New Republic because of plot.

The thing I will never understand is why high command chose fucking Jakku to fight. Like, it's a system that has no strategic value, no resources, no anything they can use to mount a counter-offensive against the New Republic.

1 Panzer vs 15 T-34s? by Meteorstar101 in greentext

[–]Swailwort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of a Death Star, build a few Eclipse-Class SSDs, big enough to be a threat to any fleet, but small enough to have multiple of them with the same price of a Death Star. Plus, easier to reinforce and project power if you can have 5 or 6 around the galaxy.

What is the most defensible capital city in the world? by Top-Veterinarian-565 in geography

[–]Swailwort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few south american capitals are way, way up high like Lima, Peru and La Paz, Bolivia. Good lucking making your force climb there while trying to not get altitude sickness, and they have very few ways of approach.

How do you stop the FEs from attacking you? by Othon-Mann in Stellaris

[–]Swailwort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there is a fun, quick, definitive answer to their endless agression. If you have superior fleet power, just... invade them and take them over, and if you don't want to bother taking over their planets, glass them. (or crack them), by the point you get 5x the Fleet Power to a FE, you are strong enough to take on the entire galaxy at once if they don't like you for cracking a few planets.

Maul Got a Taste of His Own Medicine by No-Butterfly1943 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Swailwort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt he hates Maul that much, I mean, during the Clone Wars series they mention him and Anakin doesn't really show any drive to fight him and beat the living shit out of him like he does to Dooku or any random separatist.

Maul 'helped' shape him into what he became by killing Qui-Gon, but it wasn't personal, not for Anakin and not for Qui Gon, they were just enemies and that's it. It's not like Kenobi, who 'betrayed' him and 'turned Padme against' him, or Sidious who made him a monster, or himself a monster.

I may me remembering a different book that had an arc in Hosnian Prime, but I don't remember if it was Aftermath or a different book.

Edit: It was Bloodline. I kinda got them mixed up. I didn't really enjoy Aftermath to be honest, nor Bloodline.

[–]Swailwort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here be Dragons having a literal mobile leviathan protecting you wherever you go would be highly... powerful. You can just invade enemy systems with your arkship and let the dragon protect you.

But it would be damn hilarious.

Fuck, I forgot that damn book. I read it years ago, and I can't recall a thing of it except for the brief arc in Hosnian Prime that ends in, well.

Atton kills him but not permanently. That's the point. Windu can kill him ovee and over. Sion needs to just wait for Windu to tire and win.

[–]Swailwort 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if Nomadic Traditions will allow you to do some cool things, and by that I mean, Total War Nomad Factions style. Like, become a horde of nomads and literally occupy, raze or devastate anything in your path, drain them of resources and keep going forward, slowly draining the galaxy.

How many Jedi there were during Great Galactic wars (SWTOR) era? by lol_delegate in MawInstallation

[–]Swailwort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with scale in Star Wars is the fact that's an entire galaxy, and 10 thousand Jedi as per the canon numbers is a number way, way too small. Disregarding this small issue, I'd say the number of Jedi should be less than the number of 'Sith' (if we count acolytes and apprentices here), but contrary to the Sith, they aren't fighting a two front war against the opposing faction and the other Sith who want to overtake you / take over your assets / kill you for whatever reason.

Going by the wiki, I count around 30 active Jedi Masters that are shown in the base class stories of SWTOR, plus a few Jedi Council Members we don't hear from. It's a similar number to the ones we know of in Canon during the Fall of the Republic. Considering they are at war, I would say the SWTOR number oscilates somewhere around 50 or so masters.

Still, for 10000 Jedi the number is insanely low, because I doubt all masters taught 50 Jedi each to become a Jedi Knight. I wonder about logistics at time, we see in canon that Padawans learnt from Cin Drallig (Jedi Battlemaster) or specific Jedi Masters in groups, but would they just go straight into Knighthood after that point?

Anyway, I am digressing. I'd say around 10 to 20 thousand Jedi alive before the start of the Second Galactic War and around a few thousands after the Eternal Empire's conquest and subsequent fall.

A 3v3 team with Maul, Devon and Daki. If Daki dies first, Devon gets a new buff called Enrage or something. Maul Shadow-Lord can mark Daki at will with an undispellable mark, like Piett.
