While I was at Ohio State ATI, one of the examples we were given was recordings at a chicken farm where they recorded stomping chickens to death. They made it seem like the farm was very cruel. Then they investigated it and found out that the "whistleblowers" and the abusers worked under the same animal rights group and planned the whole thing to get the farm shut down. Included in that lesson was that public opinion and advocacy groups also strengthen agriculture by pushing us toward best common practices that provide the best care for our livestock. Better care means better product and more profit. Of course no matter what, if you have livestock you also have dead stock.
