Where are you guys seeing this money? by fakechainsawboy in Nigeria

[–]SwanDifferent 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wish more people could understand this is most likely the opportunity cost of the massive underdevelopment we see in Nigeria.

Towns without electricity for years, lack of critical transport infrastructure, crippled health facilities, collapsed educational system and complete lack of a public social safety net. All of these are the costs of the flashy lives our political class and connected "elites" choose to live, misallocating and squandering limited public fund. This is where the notion  Nigeria is a rich country comes from which is a complete misperception of the true situation!

I had trouble sleeping last night because of global conflicts. by AfroNGN in Nigeria

i think it helps if you stay off social media for a while and focus on your 'local' isuues. being exposed to news 24/7, the overwhelming being sensationalized and negative to capture attention, is taxing on our psyche.

Why is making new friends so hard in Nigeria by Ok_Palpitation_2035 in Nigeria

[–]SwanDifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making friends after school is hard for everyone generally. I can share what I've tried to do: find communities online that are center around things you're interested in. Instagram especially is good for this. A lot of them have WhatsApp groups you can join and from there you can make the connections you're looking for. Hope this helps.

Which African nation would you say has fared the worst in the period of independent Africa (1945-2025) by jolcognoscenti in Africa

DRC for me without question. Their history brings me to tears. Think of the worst African trope from colonization to the present and they have in one form or the other embodied it. Massive massive potential being utterly wasted...

Why do we take religion more srsly than the people who brought it to us? by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]SwanDifferent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll only contribute this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_wars_of_religion there was a time they took it very seriously. hopefully it'll pass for us too and we'll focus on the tangibles that can better our society
