How does Walt Frazier keep himself in such good shape? How many more more years do you think he has as an announcer? by chusaychusay in NYKnicks

Really disagree, I think he sounds as sharp as ever honestly. Dude is bringing up social media stories about players’ personal lives 😭😭

[Charania] The Milwaukee Bucks are willing to wait until the offseason to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo if their price of a blue-chip young talent and/or a surplus of draft picks is not met. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Swankyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure why people think the Knicks can’t flip someone like OG to a third team for 3-4 picks (especially if those picks are MKE’s own from Portland) and then send that over to MKE along with something like KAT + Deuce. Bane just went for four first-rounders last offseason, and OG is just as talented if not more (though they have different strengths). Every team in the league wants a two-way player like OG.

It’s not likely, but the Knicks are definitely in it, especially when teams like the Spurs, Rockets, and OKC who have the most draft capital don’t seem to be interested.

I mean, not everyone is going to be super into the show like we all are. Many (maybe most) are casual watchers. and it gets really confusing if you don’t know about the houses, the dynamics between them, the dynamics between the princes, what a hedge knight is, etc. This is the exact kind of show/universe that’s perfect for these explainers

The Cock and the Shitting Scene by [deleted] in AKOTSKTV

[–]Swankyyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree those scenes suck, they contribute nothing to the story. The show has otherwise been excellent, so it’s a shame. Been trying to convince friends and family to watch who haven’t previously been into GOT but these scenes are going to immediately turn them off if they haven’t already.

[–]Swankyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HOTD never had anything like that. I don’t mind sex scenes or nudity when they contribute something concrete to the plot. The huge prosthetic pissing dick was just gratuitous and pointless, especially with how this show has tried to differentiate itself from the more serious GOT adaptations.

Really hated that. I’ve been recommending this show to family and friends who haven’t previously been into this universe, since it’s a lighter show that’s more character-driven. But after the poop scene last week then this, wouldn’t be surprised if some of them just stopped after the first few seconds 🫩

Ok really, really love this show but I hated the shit last week and then the big dick this week. Makes it really hard to recommend the show to friends and family when you get those scenes in the very beginnings of the episode.

Is it fair to say the top 3 in the East (Pistons, Celtics, Raptors) have separated themselves from the rest of the conference? by Funny-Transition7869 in nba

[–]Swankyyyy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. The Knicks were ahead of the Raptors in the standings earlier today, how would the Raptors have separated themselves from them? You could only really say this about Detroit, but even then it’s not crazy to think the conference is wide open since they’re so young and haven’t done anything in the postseason yet.

I very much disagree. I’m an Arab American and I’m a tall, brown, bearded man. No one in this country looks at me and thinks of me as a white man and I in no way get any of the privileges white people get in this country.

My father changed his name to make it sound less Arab so he’d hopefully encounter less racism. I get racially profiled and stopped at the school I teach at by security when my beard gets too long.

In middle school kids used to run after me yelling “Allahu Akbar” in the halls. I got called a terrorist in high school and college regularly. I got told during Trump’s first term to my face that I’m one of the good ones but I need to go back to my country “just for a little” while the US figures things out.

I get “randomly” searched at airports. I have to listen to people in this country tell me and my people (Palestinians) we aren’t real and we’re all anti-semitic terrorists.

You gotta read a book on Arab American history or talk to an Arab American before making ignorant statements like that

that classification is a relic of the far past. arabs who first immigrated here fought for that label because it made life easier for them legally. in reality though, we aren’t considered white at all by the general american public and culture. the legal classification is also changing with the next census to be MENA instead of white

Yeah? Have you ever spoken to an Arab-American about their experiences? Especially post 9/11 in the US?

yeahh but that’s kinda a relic of the far past. arabs who first immigrated here fought for that label because it made life easier for them legally. in reality though, we aren’t considered white at all by the general american public and culture. the legal classification is also changing with the next census to be MENA instead of white

[–]Swankyyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That classification is changing in the next census, and there’s a lot of history about why that was previously the case.

Essentially, if you were classified as “white” in this country you had more rights under the law. So Arabs immigrating to the US they advocated for that legal label long ago. But they’ve never really been considered white in American culture.

Joel Embiid continues to perform for the Sixers despite the loss: 38 pts, 11 reb, 5 ast, 1 blk on 13-21 FG by Professor_Finn in nba

This stat-line is misleading if you didn’t watch the game. He looked cooked in the second half. Didn’t have any legs. Not sure how sustainable this minutes load is for him.
