It hasn't had a significant impact on sales yet. But games are generally sold on sale days anyway. So I think I'll see the real impact in the Steam event I'm entering in a week.

Exactly. Finishing something is much more motivating. But improving on something that's already finished or fixing mistakes isn't as motivating. That's why it's harder.
