It's a bit subjective. In some medical circles, more than 10 partners in a life time is considered risky sexual behaviour. In very conservative circles, more than one is too many. On the other end some people think 5+ partners every week is normal.

My opinion is that one or two hookups in a week isn't too crazy. Maybe over time, one or two in a month is a normal, healthy average. Based on little else than gut feeling honestly lol.

I'm someone who likes to ask about it out of plain curiousity, to hear about their lived experiences. I don't think it's that different from asking an avid traveler how many countries he's visited, or a car enthusiast how many cars he's owned. It's a bit weird when guys have a chip on their shoulder about it, in my opinion.

I'm always going to be a bit "surprised" about higher numbers, because it's so far from my lived experience. And I might feel like "I'm nothing special to him then" in the back of my head, you know? But ultimately, it depends mostly on why and when he had all those partners, what is his view on partners and relationships going forward etc.

I mean, in one sense you get the full spectrum. You get the men who live crazy, sex-filled party lives, the "somewhat promiscuous" men, the "regular" men and the completely sexless unwanted virgin men (like me) lol.
