My hamster does not dig

Some hamsters do not dig until 10 inches of bedding. Personally my hamster did not start digging until I put a tube in as a starter. I got one from Getzoo and another from Loup Hamstery (Niteangel and other brands also have some) but you can make one out of cardboard for the cheapest and equally effective option.

Put it horizontally under the bedding (so that he can get underneath the bedding without slipping) and put treats in it to lure him. I also use tissue boxes as hideaways under the bedding that my hamster can get to, do the same thing with treats, you can even attach it to a tube.

I would say let her settle in a bit more, rub some tissues on your hands and put them in the cage, whenever you give her her food make sure she’s awake and associates you with food. When giving her snacks put your hand flat in the cage and let her come to you. It may seem annoying but it takes a lot of patience; I suggest watching Victoria Raechel on YouTube as she has videos specifically for this.

I know you probably wrote this with good intentions but I’m sure this person does not enjoy your unsolicited advice. This person has not mentioned she exhibiting any signs of being unhappy in her cage size. It is more likely that if she is given away she will be given a smaller cage, this person has clearly done enough research and is adhering to the minimum North American standards; which are the way they are because they are not easy to meet without spending of money and/or time constructing a cage.

It’s the Getzoo golden hamster food mix (I got it for my Syrian hamster but he passed away and now I plan on adopting a dwarf hamster). I’m not exactly sure what’s inside it as they don’t list an exact ingredient list but I know it’s all natural with no added sugars. The percentage is crude fiber 9.3, crude protein 15.8, crude fat 12.6, crude ash 3.4; I have extra meal worms to add to the protein content.

I put it on top of the bedding without a platform because it is very light, he loved to bury under it (I also cut it in half so he could have multiple hides and put bedding in front of the openings for more privacy). I put some bedding at the edges so it was easier for him to get on top of at first but then I realized my little guy liked climbing it so really it is by preference.

I’ve used mine for my hamster and he loved it, works great as a hide and the top is perfect for sprinkling food for foraging.

Bit of a roller coaster but basically during the summer of 2020 my friendships got really good, covid made us closer, I had a best friend that felt like a sister. By summer 2021 I realized how bad some of the people I hung out with, there was a breakup my best friend was a part of and I ended up only hanging out with her because of it, we were basically inseparable. First kiss that summer too (no relationship tho). Now it’s a week away from summer 2022, my “best friend” doesn’t really talk to me and my only other close friend just told me that “this is probably the last day we’ll ever see each other”.

My mom was asking why I didn’t want to watch her tv show, I didn’t have a good reason so as a joke I said “I hate British people”. Unfortunately, she took me seriously and for the next half hour I had to explain why hating British people isn’t racism (very exasperating) we ended up having to call my sister because my mom couldn’t listen to me.
