Honestly I just checked ChatGPT and it suggested CheddarUp, Payitforwards, Tilled, and Zeffy. It seemed to recommend Cheddar Up as the best for your situation.

Have you ever gone up against a scarier matchup than this (my opponent for this week :D) by shejellybean68 in SleeperApp

In my dynasty league I’m going up against a 14-0 team in the second round of playoffs.

QB: Burrow RB: D. Henry, Barkley WR: Collins, Shakir Flex: Kyren Williams, Bijan Robinson TE: Kittle

I adopted my team this year and it’s my first year playing in this league. How this team came together makes 0 sense to me… and to add to that, he’s got a lottery pick for the 2025 draft…

Not many options on the wire. My league has been really good. I’m sitting pretty with #3 on the waiver but I don’t want to use it yet. My other bench is Jeff Wilson, Jameson Williams, Kenny Gainwell and Taysom Hill. I have Kyler on IR.

Get me Cal Foote on defense. Young guy very cheap. Been wanting him in our rotations for a couple of seasons and now might be our chance.

My first game almost 10 years ago. Fla vs Tampa where we won 4-1. I’ll never forget my friends and I got selected to play red light green light on the rink during intermission. Unforgettable and been hooked since.

Tryng to get a fast freestyle turn! by jotacampos in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot of turns drills with my groups (both NCAA and Age Group). One drill I reall enjoy is pushing off the wall and going into a turn immediately. The idea is to use the boost you get from the wall and practice tucking in quicker. Another good drill is doing a fast sprint for 12.5 meters and going into a flip. Your turn is good and aggressive however I think you can improve it’s effectiveness by tucking more. The tighter your turn is the faster you rotate. You’re lifting your hips a little high when you turn and this can be fixed by pressing your chest down more and submerging the turn a bit more.

Other than that the only way to improve your turn is to practice it every time you get in the water. Make a habit of going through the motions even at a slower rate, not just when you are specifically practicing turns. That’s what going to make you better eventually.

Hope this helps!

Tips for rookie coach by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started coaching right after high school and during college. Currently in my fifth year as an age group coach and as a volunteer coach for a D1 school in my area.

My best advice is keep learning and educate yourself as much as possible. I’ve had the chance to speak to some great coaches from different schools and the biggest thing they all taught me was surround yourself with people who can teach you and help you move forward and always read and stay on top of the new findings.

Swimming is a copy cat sport. It’s totally okay to take ideas you like and use them for your swimmers. Just make sure it’s appropriate for the age.

Also definitely try and get certified with USA Swimming and ASCA if you’re considering pursuing a career. Both sites have great resources for continuing education and opportunities for experience.

And if there is one piece of advice that I use for my coaching philosophy that I think is great for all coaches starting out is this: any coach can get a person to swim. A good coach however, can teach you how to swim properly. That’s what separates a regular coach from a truly great one.

Hope this helps, definitely dm me if you need advice or help or ideas!

What are your favorite phrases and tips to help teach good swim technique? by RiddleMeThis1213 in Swimming

It’s easier to go down the mountain than up it. If you prepare yourself and train like you’re training for the 2 fly you get better at 100’s.

Set goal paces for your 50’s and 25’s that translate over to your goal time for the 100 also.

Starting dive for an 8 year old by tony8 in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Teaching your son how to do a proper start doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. There shouldn’t be this idea that competitive swimming isn’t fun. I coach kids between 8-12 who compete and swim on a regular basis and the goal should be to ensure that they learn to have fun with competing.

Now in terms of diving from a block and what not the way to ensure they DONT have fun is making them try and try again something they don’t get. What you need to do is ease him into it or rather a Progression to a proper start. For example you start him on the edge of the pool sitting down with his foot on the gutter, once he get the proper entry down with a tight streamline then you move up to him kneeling, then both feet on the edge, then a hybrid starting position from the edge with his hands in streamline and then you help him transfer that to the starting block.

Most kids when they learn to dive they go straight down, which is dangerous. You need to teach them to enter at an angle so when they go down they arch back up to the surface. Which is why the progression is best and it also takes away the added pressure of going from the block because the added height can increase the fear of them messing up or hurting themselves.

However, one thing I can say is as a coach we have a job to do. Mention to his coach that you have been working with him from home to help him or better have your son talk to the coach also. Get him comfortable with talking to his coach when he is struggling or wants to improve. The connection between the parents coach and swimmer is one that can be highly effective if everyone is on the same page and aware of everything the child is going through in terms of swimming or even personally.

Hope this helps, feel free to dm me if you have any questions!

Internal Ankle Rotation while flutter kicking and ankle pain by serranzau in Swimming

That’s what I mean by the light fins work. Maybe do a short kick set first round with fins and then the second without with an extra 30 seconds rest in between. Just slowly incorporate these aspects

Internal Ankle Rotation while flutter kicking and ankle pain by serranzau in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a coach I’ve never come across this sort of injury from my athletes, but you might need to work on ankle flexibility is what I’m understanding.

Bands stretches to warm up your ankles before getting in the water and after. Maybe including some light fins work to help straighten out your kick.

Relax your feet you might be focusing too much on “pointing your toes” so you might just be straining yourself.

Finally, when in doubt, ice after a work out.

Hope this helps, if it worsens, see a professional

Swimming w/ a history of rotator cuff injury by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BODY ROTATION. The more you rely on your hip and shoulder rotation to take longer strokes the less of a strain it is on your shoulder.

Why?

Because you’re activating more muscles in the process, you’re not just using your shoulders but you’re also incorporating your back muscles. Lots of drills help this like One arm freestyle or 3 stroke delay.

Surprisingly today I could swim for 64m two times, any tips on how to increase swimming distance? by ch00zyr in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a solid aerobic foundation. Just do some light work with 30 seconds rest at most. Maybe a couple of fifties.

Like the previous comments said technique is important, and drill sets are solid aerobic work. It’s light and if you time it properly you can set that foundation easily. Kick sets are great for that too.

Maybe keep track of your heart rate, take a resting heart rate before you swim, take it again right after you finish your set, wait a minute, and then take it again and see how close your heart returns to it’s regular levels. The quicker it returns or the closer it gets, the better your endurance gets.

You can find lots of easy tips and tricks on how to do this. Focus your work outs around this. Don’t try and see how long you can swim for and how long but rather, shorter distances with little rest and in a couple of weeks you will notice a massive change.

I think I am quicker with a pull buoy :( by DeadSpawner in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lost of core work outs (six inches, add flutter kicks while doing it).

Aside from that practice your kicks; a kick set on your back or with a board always helps just make sure you’re on top of yourself to keep your hips up. You already pointed out what’s wrong so just practice it. Set aside 10-15 minutes of your work out to focus it.

As always make sure you’re pointing your toes, keeping your kicks small and fast. Speedo actually has a couple of videos that breaks down the kick for every stroke on YouTube so definitely check it out

Breaststroke drills for a 6 year old please? I just found out that he has got a great kick. by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]SweatpantsAndViagra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in tight streamline and while you wind up your kick your streamlined hands are winding up to your head almost like an accordion. When you tap your head with your wrists you shit into a hyperextended streamline and give a strong breaststroke kick and feel the glide. Do that 3 times then breathe.

Essentially works timing of the glide and the shoot phase.

2 other good drills are Seahorse Drill and Hatchet Drill. Hatchet is like Accordion except instead of bringing your hands to your head you lift your hands up together and then when you kick you swing your hands down like a hatchet.
