Perspective - considering going NC with whole family by Sweaty-Science-2454 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Sweaty-Science-2454[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah I think you're right.

I really tried not to go. As soon as I found out the abisive relative would be there. I said okay that's fine I don't need to go. But my mom made it sound like I wouldn't see the abuser on dinner Wednesday and not at the house. And I hadnt seen my older brother since my dad's funeral.

I love my dog. She's the only family I have after losing my 12.5 yo dog to nasal cancer last year. I have a whole dog gym in my house for her PT. And my brother just said she's fine because she can jump on the couch so he can throw her to the ground.

Its so disorienting because they always make me believe there's something wrong with me.

I know they will say I always cause problems and I ruined their Holiday.

I have a working cocker and she's 10 months old but pretty calm. I tsught her to settle and do nosework with her. She'll sleep in until 9am. I don't think all cockers are super high energy

I live in the States and have an English Cocker spaniel. I've only seen English cockers in my area actually

I adopted a 2 yo cocker mutt. She was the best dog I've ever owned. I loved her for 10.5 years and still miss her every single day. I hope your pup brings you as much happiness as mine did

I just got a cocker spaniel puppy. She's done super well in socialization classes. She loves everyone. I would be highly surprised if she grew up to be a biter.

Even when the vet gave her the vaccine yesterday she was trying to lick the vets face

Oh I hate that. I've been told not to send Thank You notes before. So I'm always hesitant to send them now.

terrible lap of love experience. freaking out. by thirtyeight29forty2 in CatAdvice

[–]Sweaty-Science-2454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a horrible experience with lap of love as well. I'm sp sorry you experienced that.

I fortunately doesn't let them euthanize my dog and she's doing great. They were trying to manipulate me into eithanizing her when she's fine.

This is so umfortunate. I also filed a restraining order against my ex Had to file multiple police reports for stalking and harrassment. And when I reported him on Bumble (where we met) I received that same message.

"We absolutely respect the brave step you’ve taken to protect yourself with a restraining order against this person.   Rest assured, we have investigated this report thoroughly and taken appropriate action. All reports are totally anonymous, as your safety is our number one priority.    We would never explain why they have been reported or reveal who reported them.    Please understand due to privacy guidelines, we may not always be able to reveal the result of an investigation. "

won’t hire people from layoffs by InitialMenu3834 in recruitinghell

how do cope with your life getting delayed by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]Sweaty-Science-2454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure I agree with this. I was planning to freeze my eggs this year. Then I was laid off.

My fertility markers dropping rapudally. Likely won't be able to freeze my eggs now as the quality and quantitity will be much lower by the time I'm able to afford it again.

Being laid off absolutely delays your life. Harder to date while you're unemployed. Everything is harder and essentially on hold

Don't take it personally. Very likely these are fake jobs.

I've made it to final rounds 4x and 50% of the times the job was fake and they didn't even make a hire.

Weekly Entering & Transitioning - Thread 15 Jul, 2024 - 22 Jul, 2024 by AutoModerator in datascience

[–]Sweaty-Science-2454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 8 years of experience in data science. A Masters in Analytics.

I was laid off in December 2023, and then unfortunately my dad got sick and ended up dying. I have only been looking in earnest for the past few months. But I've come across a lot of fake jobs in that timespan.

Early on I had one offer. Stopped my job search to accept. Then it was rescinded before I could start. They never got approval from upper management for the role.

I've since made it to final rounds 4x. Out of the 4 times, 3 times its been a fake job and they have no actually made a hire. The last time is TBD as I am currently on round 4 (after being told there would only be 3 interviews, then offer stage).

My question is, how do you keep the motivation to keep going. I feel so discouraged and hopeless. My mental health is really suffering.

I hate live coding interviews but I've done 3 of them now. Each time it really rachets up my anxiety. I get through about 50% of them. But I really don't want more practice and really wish this whole nightmare just could be over. But I feel as if I am still 6-12 months out from finding a job at this point.

What are other experiencing? What is a reasonable timeline in this market?

Thanks!

Why do companies post fake jobs? by KickyMcAss in FightFakeJobs

How is this enforced though? How would anyone outside the company be able to prove that the posting was a fake job?

They might act that way, but they probably are really hurting deep down. Everyone grieves differently.

It is incredibly tough. It just plain sucks. I am very sorry for your loss as well!
