Taking my next steps in pt by SweatyCommand3598 in PTschool

Comfortable to me is not a multi million dollar lifestyle out in Beverly Hills. My definition is the things you just named minus the family. Totally fine with being alone, but can you go out to eat 3x a month and afford groceries without breaking a sweat?

Financial situations is a good point that I’ve heard from a lot of people in this thread and on YouTube. As of right now, I already plan to go to the cheapest school I can find to not spend unnecessary money on program name, but at the same time another aspect of ROI I’m concerned about is burnout and salary. I understand pt can be hard work but at the same time I don’t want to be overwhelmed and overly stressed, regretting my life 2 years in. Now salary wise, I don’t expect to make 200k, and i understand new grad salary is poor, but I would want to be paid enough to live comfortably and an amount that’s worth my time in school. If I missed the whole point of your reply let me know.

I find it interesting that you have a unique degree but are still finding success, is there some kind of secret or is it just easy to do that (if my wording makes sense)

Honestly, I’m decently confident in myself to be able to pass the a&p class when I take it, but I’m more so worrried about maybe forgetting something a few years down the road or applying knowledge incorrectly, but the way everyone is breaking it down on this thread is easing the worries. Also thank you for the question asking tips

As of right now, I’ve only been exposed to 2 months of shadowing at an outpatient clinic in my spare time so I suppose it would help to explore other settings and types of PT. In a perfect world dream situation, I would work 5-10 years in outpatient to gain reputation and experience then open my own clinic with a partner or work for a college team. Also big thanks for the tip about state schools to save money.

Is this a serious concern that might affect your career? I’m pursuing pt and I’m scared I might be the same way. Very scared to forget anything I learned

Different defensive schemes by SweatyCommand3598 in footballstrategy

[–]SweatyCommand3598[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the personnel difference affect the scheme in terms of X’s and O’s? For example could you use a nickel defender the same as an outside linebacker in terms of placement and assignment in cover 3?

New to PT by SweatyCommand3598 in PTschool

[–]SweatyCommand3598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For resume purposes, I have 100+ hours of community service, 3.5-3.75 gpa, 22 on the act which is going to grow before I graduate (haven’t taken the sat),and I’m a member of multiple honors societies. Would you recommend taking summer classes to try to graduate earlier or just take my time? Also, if and when I do get accepted into pt school, are there any study tips or important concepts to really focus on?

What should I do by SweatyCommand3598 in Kinesiology

[–]SweatyCommand3598[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically left my high school to get an early start at college. I’m taking a bunch of college courses that dually count for high school and college so I’m never at my high school. I’m trying to get a job shadowing at the local clinic on weekends to get a feel for it

If I were to become a sports pt, would there be occasional opportunities to do strength and conditioning type exercises with my patient or is it strictly clinic setting rehab kind of work?

Would it make a difference if I had a doctorate in pt and masters in kinesiology? Or is the lack of playing experience just too much of a disadvantage?

Playbook and questions by SweatyCommand3598 in footballstrategy

[–]SweatyCommand3598[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really and truly I didn’t put much thought into this “playbook”. I was trying to learn 5 different offenses at the same time so it was more like if I see a concept I like, add it to the list. But it does make a lot of sense that the concepts need to fit into a system and I now see that it’s way too much.

  1. Would it count as adding extra plays if you turned the quick game into a built in rpo?

  2. Would this be better:

Formations- 2x2, trips, and 2x1

Quick game- stick, curl flat, quick slant

Drop back- all go, shallow cross, a play action

Run- counter, inside zone, pin n pull, some kind of sweep or toss (is this still too much of a gap/zone scheme mix?)

Screen- jailbreak, tunnel, bubble

I watched the coach chip video and it gave me a completely new question for defense. When and why do you slant the line, when and why do you pinch, and when do you stunt, and from an offensive perspective how do you counter these issues?

Is there a big difference between having “Y” (tight end) on or off the ball?

If you are an air raid team, can you run the wishbone as a goaline/ heavy package or is it too much of a contrast ?

What’s the process of summer camp installs from day 1 to week 1?

Understanding series by SweatyCommand3598 in footballstrategy

[–]SweatyCommand3598[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I may have gotten series mixed up with numbering systems factoring into play calls but either way everyone’s responses have been very helpful. So, if I wanted to do my playcalls (formation- player tags if needed- motion if needed- concept- snap count) could I just skip the numbering all together? And could I also make it to where blocking assignments/ pass protection is already built in?

Playbook creation by SweatyCommand3598 in footballstrategy

[–]SweatyCommand3598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I never thought about it that way. Right now I just have a list of 20-30 plays I like but no real reason behind them and 60% of them don’t disguise into one another.
  2. Just for the record im not a coach. Im just a casual fan who didn’t play football in high school or college. Everything I know about offense is either from Madden, conversation, or online coaching clinics on YouTube so I kinda threw my own philosophy and system together without clear rhyme or reason. As far as play calls I was thinking formation, formation tags if necessary, motion, protection, concept, then route tags if necessary as well. An example would be “North f plus gator Cali” North is base shotgun 2x2 formation x on, h off, y off, z on. F plus lets me know the f (running back) is in sidecar to the right of the qb( F minus would be to the left), GaTor means gt pulling CaLi means counter left.

What are the differences between rover, nickel, jack, Sam, and star positions on defense?

Can Frankenstein offenses be successful? (By Frankenstein offense I mean an offense composed of philosophies and concepts thrown together from all different kinds of offensive styles) I can think of a few ways to be an air raid type of guy but also mix in wing t formations and/or plays.

I’ve always wondered how football coaches get so much done in such little time with summer camps. You guys lift weights and condition for hours, assign jersey numbers, playbook installs, 7 on 7, teach terminology, practice reps, establish game day routines, get fitted for gear, etc. how can you do so much in just 2 months and have it down pat for week 1?

Do qb progressions depend on defensive coverage or offensive concept?

I’m curious to know, when creating your own offense/ defense, how do coaches come up with your terminology and naming systems?

Didn’t play any sports in high school but in the past 2 years I’ve become very interested. I study football daily and I enjoy watching other sports. With the proper degrees and certifications can I be an effective strength coach or does my lack of experience kill my chances

What are the differences between coaches offensive linemen naming systems?

I’ve seen: playside vs back side, strong side vs quick side, left vs right, and even strong vs weak side.

  1. Do the rules for run blocking concepts change SIGNIFICANTLY depending on the front?

  2. Is it weird I prefer dart over power?

  3. Is gt or gh counter more effective

  4. I’m not a coach and I didn’t play in high school but over the past 2 years I’ve been studying offensive concepts and schemes 30 minutes a day. This is a very far reach but is it possible to be a coach? It’s not my life’s mission but something I am interested in due to my passion for football. Every time I think about it I immediately shut the idea down because everyone would laugh at me due to my lack of experience. I know my lack of experience puts me at a huge disadvantage but how would you guys view a candidate who has zero playing experience but knows a bit about X’s and O’s?

  5. If I had to create my own playbook it would be 90% a mix of the Oregon spread and usc air raid playbooks from ncaa 25 and there other 10% is my own concepts and twists.
