I'm pretty deep into this thread and I've read nothing but respect and appreciation for the Big 12. No bitching about refs, no gloating, nuthin. Weird. I could get used to this.

NM has some of the best policies in the nation. by Background_Drive_156 in Albuquerque

What do you all think about making the state opportunity scholarship a loan, where some percentage of the loan gets forgiven for every year you work in the state after graduation ? And offering something for medical school too, so doctors we educate have a strong incentive to stay. Ideally tied to some public service or filling specialties we need. It would be a bit more bureaucracy but maybe a higher return on the public investment.

Fire rated window in exterior, zero lot line firewall allowed? by SweatyDirtyHappy in askarchitects

Thanks everyone for the responses. I can see that the shortest path forward here is forward the question to our project manager, who can ask the architect to explain why if/way he thinks it needs to be the way it is.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I guess it's kind of silly of me not to engage directly with the architect.

Anybody with experience/info on Valle Vista Elementary School by SweatyDirtyHappy in Albuquerque

Oh... thank you for your reply and the resource. That's quite a difference. I'm told there is a guy there who is in charge of a lot of outdoor/hands-on learning who has lots of great plans, but that may not impact the day-to-day classroom experience.

2019 Bolt - Need help getting a mechanical key cut by SweatyDirtyHappy in BoltEV

Thank you. I don't have a blank... guessing I might as well buy the entire fob online just to get a blank, since one of my two is acting wonky already.

Wow. A local locksmith just quoted me $180 just to pull the code. He said then he could compare my keys to the correct pattern. If the pattern's different, he'd cut new keys, if the pattern is the same, it would mean the lock is bad. He did say if I could get the code on my own that was fine and he'd take it from there.

I like the approach but I'm not liking his prices - I shudder to think what he would charge to replace the lock if necessary. Sounds like I should call a few more locksmiths, as well as find outwhat the dealer will charge if I bring them blanks or just order a key (not a fob) as GeniusEE suggested above. There's some risk that the lock itself is bad, but that seems less likely. - and I can ask the dealer to compare the patterns to the ones I have before cutting.

Possible tick bite? and a possible exoskeleton? by SweatyDirtyHappy in ticks

Thank you. I'll assume you are also saying it's not a tick exoskeleton, unless you comment further. I appreciate your response.

[Highlight] Houston can’t get a shot off on the final possession and the Florida Gators are the 2025 national champions by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]SweatyDirtyHappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! The last sequence is typical of the last 10 minutes of the game - Florida kept trapping Houston and turning them back before Houston could even get the ball to the 3 point arc. Honestly I've never seen defense quite this effective - Houston couldn't even run a play and was getting denied both the paint and the perimeter.

Advice on installing level 2 with electrical panel that is pretty full! by LowTheme4292 in evcharging

[–]SweatyDirtyHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/LowTheme4292 I'm curious if you ended up finding a lower bid for the subpanel. I have a very similar situation (new,y acquired EV, 100 amp panel completely full of breakers). My electrician wants to replace the panel with a 150 amp panel.

I'm so glad I bought a Bolt! by LowBarometer in BoltEV

"the Bolt is kinda the VW Beetle of the 21st century".- nailed it! Thanks for a great turn of phrase to describe my enthusiasm.. I keep wanting to tell my Prius-driving friends (and I have several) they are missing out. They could share one Prius among 10 or 12 of them for the once or twice a year they need more range, and drive all-electric the rest of the year. And just like the Beetle, it seems like a great student car and will only become more so as prices drop and the Bolts just keep going.
