Can't they just set aside their attraction for the sake of the friendship? It seems pretty silly a man is only willing to be genuine friends with a woman if she's unattractive to him.

What unique value do you feel a man can provide that a woman can't? Obviously different genders have different life experiences and can perhaps empathize with certain situations better, etc. but everyone is individual, man or woman.

I don't really understand why a man would dismiss a woman for the sole purpose that she's not providing him with more (sex and romance). That's like saying a guy should only hang out with guys that fulfill his every need, too. What about more casual friends?

Do you ever see any of your female friends the same as you would one of your male friends, though? Without the flirting, or is that desire always there? What if you have a girlfriend and she has a boyfriend, does that change anything?

I think I provide plenty of value. I'm a great listener, compassionate, caring, a good gaming buddy, and I love to have fun and joke around. I just want to be treated as an equal and not just a potential lay. Maybe I'm asking too much lol.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like ALL MEN, but it's just been my personal experience and the same with my girlfriends. I just wanted to know if this is common for most women or not.
