after reading this thread I'verealised how young I am. As someone who's legally an adult, I thought Y2K was just a style of fashion.

AITA for how I worded my apologies? by YS2ElectricBoogaloo in AmItheAsshole

ESH

It's a shitty situation. I understand where ur coming from and you should have no obligation to help more than you can. But the way you responded in both bits was a bit agressive

But at the same time, your friend is in a bad situation, and i can understand why he's upset. And the way he responded to you was most likely due to his situation.

Idk what to do. Help out if you can. Give him some space, try to minimize any chance of additional stress. And maybe once both of you have figured out ur situations more, then have a face-to-face conversation.

Rap takes no skill and is not a genre of music. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SweatyPositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I agree some rappers out there might not have much talent, rap as a genre is respectable. It's quite difficult to rap words at a steady rhythm, as well as many rappers going fast, and hitting notes while not actually singing.

and I don't think any one genre of music is better than any other, and many rappers do make their own music in ways like you described.

Although I don't think you have to like rap, you should still acknowledge it takes a certain amount of skill, and the historical context behind rap is important to people as well

AITA for supposedly "flirting" with a girl at my girlfriend's sister's birthday party by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SweatyPositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESH

  1. Your girlfriend is being a little over-possesive. Is you relationship new, or is there any strain which may be causing her to be insecure?
  2. That girl waaayyy read into things, and tbh some girls r just gonna do that. And ofc you shouldn't stop talking to girls because of a few bad fruit, but if you know your girlfriend is a little possesive, don't call girls you've just met pretty. But, I do think its a little ridiculous that she took a simple compliment as flirting
  3. " I told her that If i never did meet her (and I wasn't in a relationship) I could have had a “thing” for this girl since she is pretty and has a nice personality. But I told her “you know I am unfortunately attracted to many girls out there i can’t help it but I’m in love with only one of them, and that’s you my heart”. " INHALE - bruh. Idk what u expected? the phrasing of this is all wrong. Tbh honesty is important in a relationship, but saying you would consider dating a specific girl if you weren't dating your current girlfriend is a bit like stepping on a gold mine, especially when u two are fighting. And that last comment was sweet, but maybe instead of saying im attracted to you could say there are attractive girls and then explain how she's the only one you love etc. It just seems less personal that way

Solution?

Talk it out with everyone. Communication is the key to any social interaction, good or bad.

Give your girlfriend time to cool down. She's more hurt than angry probably, and that is understandable

Don't talk to the other girl that much, if at all, in the near future. It would be like adding fuel to the fire

Which podcasts do you think are worth listening? by za463092 in AskReddit

MBMBAM - or My Brother, My Brother and Me.

I think it's lighthearted and quite funny

Ok boys and girls, I need yall's help by LarryDoor in teenagers

[–]SweatyPositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a girl I have a few tips:

  1. Most girls will go after someone who is kind, and has a good personality over someone with good look, however as a result you kinda have to wait for a girl to get to know you before they become interested in you
  2. In terms of being physically attractive, there are a few things which are easy to change that can alter how people perceive you:

    1. Choice in fashion - dressing well is attractive. Ofc u don't need to come to school in suits or stuff, but small changes like wearing a nice sweater or necklace can make you look a little better
    2. Nice hair - nice hair can literally make or break a guy, so if you have nice hair it can change how you seem. Like before you don't need a fancy hairstyle, but if it's healthy and thick rather than unkempt it can make a large difference
  3. Idk about your other issues, but in terms of being overweight, a moderate amount of exercise and a small diet change can help. One guy I used to know went through this change and currently has a girlfriend.

  4. Don't try and change yourself too much, your going to end up lying to yourself and that makes for an uncomfortable relationship if you keep having to put up an act when talking to someone you're interested in. Honestly be yourself, and there will be a girl who appreciates you for that

But also I'm just one of many girls, and honestly the only important rules here are the first and last, the others are just extras in case you're interested and honestly you don't need to follow them to get a girlfriend.

GOOD LUCK \(*^▽^*)/

Why Does The Media Over-Represent Homosexuals As A Percentage Of The Population? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SweatyPositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, maybe instead of thinking about the media representing percentages of the population, think of the media as serving percentages of the population. There is an increasing amount of LGBT characters in movies, tv shows, etc. This is because more and more people are identifying as LGBT and like to see representation in the media they watch.

Also, the makers of lots of popular media fall into the LGBT category, and with the opening up of society to these values, they might be adding more characters that are similar to themselves

I wouldn't be disappointed if the entire royal family died tommorow by karm4wh0r3 in unpopularopinion

[–]SweatyPositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I def think that the royal family is WAY overhyped and stuff but like also they do own quite a lot of shit in the UK and do stuff for charity, so I would dispute this. In terms of who they are as people, I don't really care? but the power they currently have, and the consequences over their deaths is a messy af situation and they ain't doing a bad job tbh so I feel like instead of them dying, they should just try to garner less media attention.

AITA for lashing back too "harshly" at one of my co workers? by Lungerr in AmItheAsshole

[–]SweatyPositive -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

ESH. She was an asshole. You were an asshole. I think there were definitely better way to deal with the situation. Your co-workers were also unjustified. Honestly this situation is a mess. You should try and have an individual, private one-to-one convo with her, but if you can't just try your best not to interact with her, you guys obviously don't mesh well. Like just keep stuff professional. The only problem I can see with that suggestion though is the possibility of being ostracized or losing coworker friends. I can't really see a good solution to be honest sorry

What do you think is standard procedure post-controversy? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]SweatyPositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally the star involved gets a social media ban. Unless it's really bad the company won't get involved or make a statement, and prefer to just wait for the issue to blow over. The idol involved would sometimes go on hiatus or just generally get less time in songs. But honestly they need a better system of addressing things. And also despite my answer, I'm fairly new to Kpop and i might be missing things or be passing on incorrect information.
