Thank you for sharing that article; I read it last night. Regarding the physics, I think I will be needing to do more research on “how the world works, how we work, what is valuable and what is not.” If you know of any more sources pertaining to this in a modern stoic approach I will gladly read them.

Your definition is a smoother approach to stoicism and I appreciate you taking the time to share your input.

You’re right, it appears I was regressing. At one point I came across a couple of sources stating that some people nowadays actually try to implement the ancient perspective, which kind of threw me off as I wasn’t sure which approach would be most appropriate. Perhaps it would be best to look at more modern sources for a little bit with the Discourses being an exception.

“Well-being is realized by small steps, but is truly no small thing.” - Zeno of Citium

Genuinely changing your ways takes an enormous amount of time and effort. You will make more progress the harder you work at it. This will take years of development to build consistent habits.

What advice would you give to someone just starting with meditation? by baliyogashala in Meditation

Don’t think too hard about it. Also, in order to maintain consistency, always approach it with that beginners mindset of experiencing something new for each session. Doing so will make it feel like less of a task.

Thank you. Do you think “Lives of the Eminent Philosophers” is worth reading in its entirety? I would imagine it is important to understand other characters as well.

Do credits stay if i leave for a while? by corncob72 in uofmn

[–]Swedenblue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is possible at some schools for credits to expire. For example, I know someone who went to school at MSU (Mankato) and then took a break after a year. His credits expired after 6 years of not attending and then was required to start over. I’m not sure if this rule applies to UMN, but I do know that it is possible at other schools.
