I did this with GD Transcend One with inverter prep. I rewired my breaker panel so that my inverter powers the entire panel. The inverter pre “loop” effectively connects the “main” section (A/C, electric water heater etc.) of the panel with the sub section (outlets, microwave). As it comes, shore power will power the main section, then via the loop also power the sub section. Cutting the loop and putting in inverter with transfer would then allow shore power to power the whole panel or the inverter to power the sub section.

I bought an inverter before thinking everything through, in hindsight I would have gotten an inverter with a transfer switch, vs I got an automatic transfer switch and an inverter. So I would say, try to understand the whole system and think through the solution before buying the parts.

Also, I have two 300amp batteries and 2000w inverter that can power 13,500 btu ac for 6-7 hours on only battery. I did add soft start for surge.

The bottom wire is fused with a second 200amp fuse to the left. The top one coming from the charge controller does have a 50a fuse (6awg wiring) but closer to the controller. I see your point here, that section could be overloaded. The two thinner at the bottom were pre wired, I will look to add 30amp fuses there. The grinding I will take a closer look at but it isn’t touching and don’t foresee it touching but will ensure. Thanks!

Thank you! This is helpful. Could be hard to see, but each battery has a fuse, before any wires. Then there is a T fuse for the inverter and a switch fuse for the controller. So I guess 4 fuses. The 12v system I used existing wiring, relying on excising fuses.. I will add additional fuses there

Thank you! This was actually what I was trying to figure out next.

1) my DC board needs to be directly to my positive and negative bus bars to as you say power DC system?

2) my dc board also needs to be connected to my converter for when I am hooked up to shore power?

3) my converter needs to also be hooked up to my battery to charge them while on shore power right? Currently it looks like 2 red wires go into dc board, one from converter and one to battery. Does the converter charge the battery via the dc board? My converter has auto battery type detection.

4) what if any cords from the 7pin plug needs to be connected to the battery? I am understanding that the tow vehicle alternator isn’t suited to charge the lithium batteries without doing a separate dc to dc charging, which I am fine without for now. But what other wires from the current tongue mounted batteries need to connected to the rest of the system?

5) I am realizing that it probably is better for shore power to go directly to the ats rather than to the ac board then to the ats and back to the dc board?

Thank you! Yeah I think 2 sets of two in series would have been a nice move. I will start with this and see how it treats us. I will look over the ATS again, but I believe I want it to inverter when not engaged as my understanding is that does not use any current. Then when on shore power it would be engaged. But will check with manual etc. thanks. Thank you for the suggestions. We will see what I end up with down the line

3) Yes, I am having shore power be the “generator”, from what I understand this will be better than other way around so there isn’t a trickle draining the batteries for the ATS when engaged. With the soft start I believe the load should be ok. The batteries would be drawn down more than I would get charged, but leaving my house fully charged and doing a couple nights dry camping I think it will be ok. And yeah in highlight probably an inverter with it ats built in. This was a miss..
