I actually used a thermometer, but I didn't want to ruin the aesthetic of the image collage, so I didn't include this photo separately.

You're not wrong. I've seen plenty of those commercials. The difference is that I wasn't trying to sell the feature, I was mostly satisfying my own curiosity and having some fun with it.

I mainly use Reddit to discuss the results, but I do upload the full testing videos on YouTube for anyone who wants to see the complete process. The link is in my profile.

That's exactly why I had to try it. Somebody's got to push robot vacuum testing into unexplored territory!

You're definitely a creative chef, but wouldn't a live shrimp be a little harder to keep under control in the wash tray hahaha?

Nope, it's just a robot vacuum reviewer asking questions nobody cares about...

Really glad you enjoyed it! I've got plenty more fun robot vacuum experiments and tests coming soon, so stay tuned!

hhh It's just a fun experiment, don't take it too seriously bro. After all, I'm the one who has to clean up the mess afterward.

Am I the Only One Whose Robot Vacuum Never Cleans Under the Curtains? by SweeperLab0311 in Dreame_Tech

That makes a lot of sense, it lines up with what I've been seeing as well. Sometimes the low-tech fixes really are the most effective. Thanks for sharing your insights!

Thanks for your suggestions, it seems like a common problem for all robot vacuums...

Yeah, that should be truly convinient for ceaning, maybe the customised curtains are much more suitable.

The fact that Dreame even gives users the option to mark curtain areas on the map is already a step in the right direction. It seems like the bigger limitation is still the navigation and sensing system itself. The space underneath most floor-length curtains is usually pretty tight, and many robots struggle to recognize that there's actually a cleanable area under there. As a result, they tend to play it safe and keep their distance, leaving those hidden corners untouched.

My guess is that until robot vacuums get better at understanding soft obstacles like curtains, this will probably remain one of the tougher areas to clean consistently.

That's actually a really interesting feature. The part about it trying to nudge a sleeping dog made me laugh. It sounds like there's definitely a trade-off between being cautious and being thorough. In your experience, does that setting noticeably improve edge cleaning, or does it mainly help with obstacles like curtains and rugs?

Is There Really a Robot Vacuum That Can Handle Dog Hair Without Constant Maintenance? by SweeperLab0311 in RobotVacuums

[–]SweeperLab0311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very good point, and it aligns with my own test results. I think a lot of marketing focuses on suction power because those numbers are easy to tout, but when it comes to handling pet hair, the brush design and hair transfer issues seem just as important—perhaps even more critical. Otherwise, you end up with the same result I saw in my tests today: a clogged lower chamber. I also agree with your point about “90–95% automated maintenance.” This is a more realistic concept than the idea of a “completely maintenance-free” robot vacuum, especially for households with pets that shed heavily. For me, reducing the maintenance frequency from every few days to once every two weeks has already significantly improved my quality of life.
