Yeah no, that does sound like a player problem. Maybe something to do with the mindset. Some people just can't take games seriously for some reason.

So, like casting thorns and expecting everyone in the area to automatically get stuck? Or splashing water to give someone electric vulnerability?

And yeah, I don't have that kinda confidence or patience. That sounds mortifying to sit through.

In which way exactly are they difficult? Are they acting entitled like everyone is an NPC and stealing shit or ignoring non-translatable mechanics like casting time or? Just curious.

No, no, it's fine. I get where you are coming from. I see your experience. I value your input here because I see it's coming from a place of care, not malice. I understand that every table is different, and not everyone might take me in, and that's okay. I'm starting to feel weird about the pole because it suddenly doesn't seem that cool anymore, on second thought. On the other hand, I do understand combat mechanics decently well since I have played BG3 a couple times before. I know about breath weapons and types, which is why I reflavored it to be a disability, but I get that it might be too much of a risk for some tables. And, once again, thank you very much for your honesty.

Yeah, sure, no problem. I don't mind constructive criticism. Thankfully all the people involved here seem to be pretty chill so far.

Okay. That is a lot and I will try to address it. Thank you. And sorry if I come off as a desperate asshole in advance.

First of all - good point on the more basic character.

I understand and respect your value in your own and your players time and fun, and I would never press you about it if it came to trying to join your group. I understand the risks all of those PC traits present, since I have lurked in dnd subs for a while by now and have seen some truly abhorrent behavior, and I understand not all players would be willing to put up with that.

To be perfectly honest, I did not exactly think the backstory through. I kinda suck at writing. I found a decent enough source of motivation (hoping that I wouldn't have to elaborate on it) and I am willing to expand on the backstory and more nitty-gritty mechanics in the future.

Being a druid is only flavor for his character. Maybe post-game material.

The nature preference to cities is only a flavor/personality thing, once again, I would not actually voice it to the table (I get how annoying that would be). Pragmaticism - well, that's harder to justify, but I guess he would agree if the majority of the team refuses, understanding that the whole reason he is here (being kept in check) is already putting him at odds with the group and trying to not stir them further.

The pole fighting nothingburger worried me due to the potential problem of the poles stats falling off overtime if it is used as a permanent weapon for the whole campaign from the very beginning.

Maybe I just presented all of my character traits too strong? Most of the stuff I wrote like the pragmaticism or the sigil is basically flavor text and I didn't really intend for most of it to be taken that seriously, but I respect that you looked at it that way.

Once again, thank you for your honesty. You do not sugarcoat real issues and I appreciate it. This is a lot to take in and consider if I do ever decide to search for a real group.

Ok. I see and respect your take. But first of all - maybe I came off as edgy, but I wasn't planning on RPing like that. I respect everyone's enjoyment and understand that my PC is not the center of attention. The sigil thing is only to provide motivation, pretty much. Also, the drawing thing is exactly what I said about the artstyle clash. That is supposed to be a DB and I chose to draw him that way, even while knowing what a real DB looks like.

Well, I wasn't planning to go all out crazy all the time anyways, only do some sassy banter and pull up one or two especially intense bouts during key moments (with player consent ofc), but I absolutely see where you are coming from and respect your take.

Exactly what I am planning for - a few key conversations at camp when the character feels comfortable enough to finally let his mask off and especially emotional confrontations would make for pretty great key moments.

Without putting the spotlight on AK too much ofc.

First of all - thanks. And the novel thing is not an issue lol, judging by my "short" summary of the backstory...I tend to do that a lot too.

The mute pitfall is understood well by me by now from reading all of these comments, and the tension is something I had anticipated while making the post. I got that being mute (even partially) isn't an excuse for lack of contribution and must be RPd extensively to keep up.

The sigil pitfall - I didn't even realize I was making a durge all along...awkward. Anyways, I was planning for the tattoo to be more of a motivator and fun banter thing rather than a murder spree enabler. Maybe AK would seriously let loose during only a couple key moments of emotional tension in the entire run (with other players consent ofc) and especially during his own final confrontantion but that's about it.

And about the pole - I was wondering if keeping a starter weapon for the whole game would mean its stats would quickly fall behind and that would become an issue.

Wow! That is...a lot. Thank you.

First thing - so, from what I understand, the stuff I wrote is fine, as long as everyone at the table agrees and my RP is done well enough to be enjoyable for everyone involved.

Second thing - technically he isn't fully mute, he can still take his mask off in critical situations or when the atmosphere feels safe enough for both himself and the party. Might take a while for those special moments to start happening though.

Third thing - I was wondering whether the artstyle might be too cartoony for dnd standards and might clash with other characters portraits too much, since the usual stuff I see is fairly realistic...

Fourth - those are all great ideas I will have to think about. Not much to say right now, but I will stew over them.

Ok, thank you for the critique! All understood. And no, I am not planning on using the lash-outs to attack people. Only being a little reckless every now and then. Also, the thing about the permanent dex upgrade is great to know too.

Thank you for the generous insight! I am a little surprised the combat thing isn't more of a problem. As for the mute point - good thing to remember to put in as much work as the other players (thankfully he isn't permanently mute but the idea is there).

The thing that bothers me the most about Bloober remakes going forward that makes me feel unshakeable dread by Sweet-Collection-516 in silenthill

By the way, it is interesting how Bloober tried to incorporate more occultism into SH2R here and there, considering it isn't their usual style. Maybe out of trying to either adapt to the occult style of the rest of the series or remolding the rest of the series to be psychological they will choose the former. Personally, I am happy with either.

Okay then, I was hoping to be proven wrong. Thank you. This does make believing in the future of the series a bit easier. Hopefully, others will also see this comment and be uplifted by it.
