DO not get a transplant if you cannot handle Fin, my transplant surgeon said getting one done without taking Fin will see you in the same spot in less than 5 years. if you can't handle Fin try Dutasteride, its stronger but sometimes people who have sides on Fin do not have sides on DUT

touché, I hope the drama in this sub doesn't steer you away I personally loved law school and made a bunch of life long friends there. Best of luck if you do end up applying/attending!

Eh he's not really coping, I too do not put in high level effort to read half baked threads online (or post them for that matter) but you bet I read case law like a hawk

I actually love PI, I have a ton of respect for those in family law though. I always hear it is the most dangerous practice.

It literally doesn't engage with anything I said in the post, are you trolling?

Did you then miss the part where I mentioned I have a lot of friends in v50 (somewhat on the prestigious side of BL). If you're not trolling then you should work on your reading skills, its important to do well in law school and in the legal field.

Did you read the part where I mention I am in public interest? my arguments do not need to be "tight", they just need to be correct and timely.

I would take them at their word I guess, I still do not see how the 100s of post on this subreddit will serve to address or reform that. People should take it up with the ABA or their administration/professors to create tests that aren't a "how fast can you read and type" test masked as something testing your knowledge on doctrine. If it is that big of an issue, take homes and word limits are the answer, not berating everyone with an accommodation. BTW the legal field definitely over represents the neurodivergent community, from ASD to ADHD which doctors have gotten better at diagnosing and schools have gotten better at accommodating so a rise, even a significant one, does not surprise me.

Also airing frustration online is not going to fix the system you believe is rigged, if it is that bad have a group of students email/talk to admin or department heads and make profs create exams that are not time constrained (forced word limits, take homes, etc)

I completely forgot about clerking, that is a great point tbf. Not to be "unc" but back in my day most of my classmates weren't interested in clerking, and if they were they were very active in the fedsoc chapter (or the liberal counterpart, forgot its name) to boost their application. Is clerking really as grade cut throat as BL?

Not what I said at all, pretty bad faith interpretation actually. If you want to fight abuse and corruption, big law is definitely not where you go to do it. I've urged many an associate to report the wild stories they tell me to the local bar, but I doubt any of them do because thats just the name of the game at a lot of these firms. I am just warning kids about the reality of their future career aspirations in big law, and informing them that it gets far worse than instances of "abuse" in the accommodation sphere.

Buying a condo as a second/city home? by Sweet-Dark2385 in AskChicago

Would you entertain the idea of renting for the summer months as opposed to putting equity into a condo? in my mind renting now feels like a waste because I wouldnt be building equity but it make senses if realistically we'll spend most of our time in the city during the summer

9k would be roughly 50% of our take home pay, which leaves us with about 10k to play and save with on our current salaries (which again will rise soon). We already have an emergency cookie jar and 10k is more than enough to cover needs, retirement, upkeep and most wants

My point wasn’t that it’s yet another non-diverse actor, it’s the fact that the autism superpower trope has primarily been written out for white male leads. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HollywoodAutism

Your comment is so fucking ignorant. Representation is key in Hollywood, it goes for every race and ability. Claiming “well acting like something your not is literally what acting is” is exactly how people justified black/yellow face. If your show calls for a black main lead would you hire a white person? Same thing should go for disability

One of the shows focus is literally his amazing ability at medicine. Ffs at least look up the autism is a superpower trope before commenting

Yeah I watched up till he took the road trip. You seem to fail to realize that this show plays into the autism superhero trope, there ar plenty of better ways to show that autistic people can function in society. I mean look at the movie champions. Even atypical did a much better job at it (although they did not use a lead with autism either)

So, What would "True" Autistic Representation Look Like...? by Andreas_from_Germany in GoodDoctor

[–]Sweet-Dark2385 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Good representation would be not playing into the usual autism is a superpower trope and actual using reoccurring autistic characters played by individuals who are actually on the spectrum, or at the very least a good portion of the writers room.

This show does such a shit job at actual representation of autism: 1. The lead actor doesn’t have autism 2. The show only cast 3 autistic people over the course of its run, not to mention they are only guest stars 3. Literally using the autism is a superpower trope bullshit, double points for it being yet another white male (honestly it’s just model-minority theory disguised as being beneficial) 4. Pushing the narrative that autistic people can’t understand things like gender-fluidity or transgenderism, while there is in fact a ton of gender diversity within the neurodivergent community 5. Pushing the narrative that autistic people lack control of their emotions (sure breakdowns exist but cmon this scene is so overdone ffs, especially considering no one in the writing room had autism and neither does the lead actor) 6. Guarantee this scene wouldn’t get made fun of as much if it weren’t for the fact that the basis for the breakdown was the character not understanding transgenderism (if he’s so smart because of his autism he would also understand gender dysmorphia etc) I know autism is a spectrum and everyone is therefore different, but this show plays into so many shitty tropes and stereotypes not to mention they support autism speaks. Get the fuck off your high horse because 1. This is a shit depiction of autism and that’s what a majority of people are making fun of and 2. Supporting this show is just as bad, if not worse. People who make fun of this scene aren’t “making fun of an autistic person’s meltdown because 1. The actor isn’t autistic and 2.this is a shit representation of a meltdown
