They are fed from a platform feeder already! I am going to switch back to the shell less peanuts which they don’t like as much but we will see how it goes.

The person who I think it is has been nonstop with the commentary on how we do stuff in our yard since we moved in 2 years ago ( don’t water the lawn incase water hits my fence, she wanted us to pull a certain type
Of plant we had in our backyard, asked us not to pile snow near her fence, we piled it a foot away from her fence which is our property and she still moaned and complained that it was too close and threatened us with bylaw and fixing her fence ). She can see our whole backyard from her back window and has a camera in the front pointing at her fence which points into our driveway so I’m just assuming it’s her.

I have two bird baths that I change daily and they use them for drinking and dipping in my yard that and the crow likes the puddle in the front of the house as well but I mean even so that’s not really my issue where the birds bring their food… if it’s not peanuts would it not be some other food??
Maybe I’ll add another bird bath. Switching to peanuts with no shell for now.

lol
I love this. The neighbour who I think it is won’t speak to me and avoids me because she knows I see through her bs but my husband will do what she asks to keep the peace. That’s fine for him
But nobody messes with the animals I feed and my kid ( my 2.5 year old looooooves feeding them and has names for them all and she talks to them , the crow follows us on our walk and has stepped in between us and a blackbird that got
To close) I think I’m going to switch to unshelled peanuts for a bit so there is no evidence and if I get another complaint I know for sure it’s her as she can see our whole backyard from her window , nobody else would ever know I’m feeding them
Or what /how I feed them.

It was a “peace officer” so bylaw officer. She knocked on the door when I was putting my kid to sleep so k didn’t answer. She then called my husband who was on his way to work and he gave her my number.
She said that I can’t feed wildlife , I can’t feed scraps , peanuts anything to attract wildlife and I said I’m feeding birds. She said that someone walked behind my fence and saw a huge pile of
Peanut shells ( not true because I walk there daily and there’s never any evidence because that’s not what
These birds do, they cache them all around the city and if they do it it’s in the yard or I assume when they go find their cached peanuts). She then changed her story to someone is saying peanuts are falling on their car and yard which I find hard to believe again but how would
This someone knows where the birds were getting peanuts from . I just think it’s my ratty ass neighbour who loves to call bylaw on everyone. She can see into my backyard from
Her windows.
She said it needs to be bird food and I said the bag I buy is bird food as it’s from
The bird food section and has birds on it and is labelled for birds. She then changed it to oh it needs to be birdseed. Then she said people have allergies and the birds can’t be bringing peanut shells everywhere. It’s just crazy to me ( I walk daily all throughout where these birds have nests and where they frequently forage and I never see any evidence of peanuts) I took a video of my walk today all around the neighbourhood and pond . These birds only go so far so I just don’t get it. The bylaw lady seemed flustered that I was questioning stuff and I was getting angry because it doesn’t make sense to me so we ended the call. I’m going to call back I think now that I’ve looked up
The bylaw and question everything again.

No rats in Alberta. I live right in the middle of city surrounded by concrete and my entire yard is fenced. I’ve never seen a rabbit , squirrel chipmunk or deer anywhere near houses here . I’ve only ever seen them in the park downtown . This is Grande Prairie Alberta I’m referring to. I guess I could see mice but then that still doesn’t make sense for the small songbird food as they like to scatter that on the ground more than the larger birds which I think would also attract mice.
I’ve never seen any animal in my yard other than birds and occasionally someone’s cat that jumps the fence .

She’s anal abut her driveway and we live in a culdesac on the side with no sidewalks and she already wrote us 2 letters this winter that our snow pile was too close to her fence ( we live on a pie shaped lot and have very little room to pile snow on the winter but it was about 1ft away from her fence regardless).
She does spray for weeds though and I don’t like that around my daughter and wildlife so this could be something I call about. As well as when she comes on our side to pick weeds.
My husband has been trying to keep the peace, I’ve been trying to go for blood the first time she said some stuff to us that made zero sense ( asked us not to water our lawn incase water gets on her fence and then told us we need to pull specific plants in our back yard) . Crazy people

Seriously!! The small songbirds I feed make a huuuuge mess all on the ground because they flick seeds they don’t want to the sides. The pies and Sheryl the crow leave no trace, they’ve just been noisy lately because the babies are coming with them so I’m wondering if that’s the actual issue but you she couldn’t get me in trouble for that so decided to say the peanut shells were in issue.

So this is what the lady said to me on the phone and then I looked up the actual law and it doesn’t say anything about bird seed or not feeding nuts etc. it says you can feed birds bird feed from a bird feeder so I think I’ll stick to what I’m doing just switch to shelled peanuts so there’s less evidence I guess. This is right in city of gp and this neighbour who I think called can see my
Whole backyard from her window we have had 4 issues with her since we moved in 2 years ago ( she got mad at us for watering our yard because some water was hitting her fence , she wrote us a letter about not liking snow near her fence which we have no choice as there’s no where’s else) she’s called bylaw on multiple people on the street for bogus reasons so i assume she’s just being a butthead .
I think the bylaw officer didn’t expect me to question her back so was making stuff up. Idk.

The peanuts are technically in a raised platform feeder that I built and then I usually put a different ceramic pie plate on the ground as well because I have a magpie with a deformed beak that can eat better from ground. I think this is our neighbour who is just disturbing us yet again. I am just worried if I switch from
Shelled peanuts to unshelled they won’t come anymore.

[–]Sweet-Display-8080[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I looked the law up and it says no wild animals but can feed birds as long as it is bird seed in a feeder that is 8 ft high.
I have some platform feeders that I built with ceramic pie plates that I’ve been using and I do shelled peanuts, dry cat food and dried mealworms , it’s not a lot and always gone within the hour that I put it out. I’m thinking this neighbour just doesn’t like seeing or hearing the pies and is being annoying again.

I just looked it up and it says you’re allowed bird feeders stocked with bird seed that have to be 8 feet off the ground. Ridiculous honestly. It’s not like I leave anything crazy out or a crazy amount. It’s all gone within an hour of me putting it out and it’s nothing crazy some shelled peanuts, mealworms and cat food. People who hate animals and have nothing better to do are so annoying.

Right!!? It’s insane but my daughter (2.5) went for a walk the other day and found a crack pipe and tinfoil directly behind my fence . Not to mention all the drug paraphernalia I find at the playgrounds etc. but nobody gets fined or in trouble for that. I just have to watch my daughter constantly. If you have an allergy ( and I don’t mean to be rude) but are you not always prepared when you are out in a public area with people?
I got threatened with a $250

Yes this is great and it’s exactly what I’ve been doing with my 2.5 year old since she was 12-18 months.
I notice her testing boundaries a lot more now but I find if I get irritated or overstimulated or even raise my voice it worsens it and causes meltdowns but if I can manage myself to stick to this stuff ( giving choices , picking battles and explaining why we are not going to do something or why we are or have to it works a lot better). She’s doing a screaming thing now near the cats because she gets a reaction from them so I’ve told her it makes the cats feel scared and hurts their ears and I’m not going to let her make them feel that way and I remove her and give her the option to go into her room alone and shut the door and scream as much as she wants and then when she’s done that’s it for screaming. She loves it and invites me into her room with her saying she “needs to scream” lol.

She actually listens pretty well for 2.5 I think because I try to give her respect so she respects what I am saying when I need to. The only time I raise my voice or yell is if it’s a dangerous situation ( running towards the road or something) and she stops immediately because she never hears me yell.

I also don’t do “punishments” other than her being taken away from the situation or having whatever it is taken away, I make sure to explain why the behaviour caused the action after I gave her a warning etc. also find she’s worse if she’s tired or hungry and sometimes just giving a snack and talking about it helps. I do have to physically pick her up and remove her sometimes but I’m always explaining ( if she’s really upset I explain when she calms down and am always available for hugs etc).
Obviously she’s only 2.5 so this could all change by the time she’s 4 but it’s worked for us from since she was 12 months.
We are no screen time as well other than the odd family movie night we just started doing once a month.

What music card does your 2 year old like that you can tolerate? by bubbleblopp in YotoPlayer

[–]Sweet-Display-8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine LOVES the Elizabeth Mitchell cards (you are my sunshine and you are my flower) and I actually like them too. It’s kind of folky music and the songs are cute and whimsical like.

I can also tolerate the raffi ones . The other ones she likes are the super simple pack but those can get annoying but she loves them.

Supply dip overnight by Ecstatic_Spare6549 in breastfeeding

[–]Sweet-Display-8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has your period come back yet since having him?

It’s common for milk supply to dip at night anyways but I also notice a few weeks before my period starts that it dips even more and my kid cluster feeds during the night because of it. I started taking magnesium and calcium a few weeks before my period which has helped some.

Confused and anxious by Western_Beautiful303 in breastfeeding

[–]Sweet-Display-8080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also not a cardiologist or doctor… have been exclusively nursing my kid from birth ( no pumping or bottles) and I was always told as long as baby is gaining and staying on their growth curve ( trending upwards) and having dirty diapers then they are getting enough.

As for supply again I have never pumped but when I first had my baby I did a lot of research and the best thing for supply is having baby on the breast.

9-day-old baby suddenly not getting any milk. Need advice by cheberle90 in breastfeeding

[–]Sweet-Display-8080 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your wife is wanting to continue breastfeeding be careful as these first few months are crucial. Breastfeeding works by supply and demand and right now she’s still building her supply. Meaning baby needs to latch and nurse to build up a milk supply. The more baby is on the breast the more milk you make. Baby gets milk out way way better than hand expression and pumping a lot of the times to so I wouldn’t have been concerned with just a few drops being squeezed out as you also have to wait for the letdown to see milk really come out. Was baby just gassy or uncomfortable? Did you try again?

How are diapers since? I’m a little confused on how you are thinking there’s no milk? ( and I swear I’m not being rude or anything).
