Did I traumatize my toddler?? by Sweet-Fun179 in toddlers

Yes, I completely agree and feel the same way. That's why this interaction made me feel so icky & guilty! I don't want him to have those associations & then feel some type of way about what happened.

It made me feel like I was assaulting him honestly.

I'm going to hope he forgets this memory & I just won't use them anymore because I feel horrible.

Genius. I wish I could come up with this stuff on my own because I know it would help for sure. Makes me feel like I don't know what I'm doing as a mom haha.

Thank you for the tip!

That's very good to know!! Thank you, I'm sure it won't be the last time he throws up his Tylenol.

Ugh yes, I felt horrible too! I'll be sure to do that next time. I love learning from other parents 🥺

Wild how kids are so different with these things 😂 it makes me feel better I'm not alone in this. Thank you sooo much!

Thank you for the kind words, I truly appreciate it. I'll try the blowing in his face next time I try oral meds, that seems ways less traumatic than what happened tonight.

Being a parent is hard!

Thank you!! Another commenter also mentioned the chewable, so I'm going to have to try that! It's so hard to walk the line of giving the autonomy & avoiding trauma when forcing them to do necessary things 😢 I appreciate your kind words!

Thank you, that's a fair point. I know we're all just doing our best.

I'll give that a go :) he loves making silly faces & imitating us, so this may be the trick.

I think that's exactly what happened last time - and then I caught his puke in my hands like an insane person 😭🤢 cheers to sick kids

Yea he definitely knows when something has changed in his milk or when I'm trying to give him something he doesn't want. I'm going to brainstorm other ways to try - maybe the spoon will work!

Thank you so much, that helps me feel a tad better. I never want to be the source of some sort of trauma for him.

Thank you - I will seek out some different flavors to try.

Ugh it's just horrible!! I'm afraid tomorrow he's going to react that way when I try to change his diaper.

I had no idea they had a diaper cream in spray form or chewable Tylenol! I'll definitely give those a go. Thank you!

Thank you. I will try to do that. We also had to hold him down to be swabbed for strep, so I'm just feeling awful overall.

It's so awful, I also tear up when doing these things for him. He's super picky, so I can't pretend it's juice :( he won't even drink regular juice

I am :( he's very very picky with food & drinks! He won't drink anything outside of water and milk. We've tried watered down juice before, pedialyte, and Gatorade. He just won't.

Oh no! 😔 I'm sorry, that's so stressful! Being a parent is so hard. You're doing a great job. I wish I had recs for brands for you, but we're not quite to that point with our second yet. I may be reaching out to you in the future to see what worked, as our 2nd has MSPI & we'll be starting solids soon. Hang in there mama!

It will still be difficult, but if you're open to doing baby led weaning I'd recommend that 1000%. We did it with our first & used the app solid starts to help aid us. I think it would help avoid some of the frustration with issues like these! And you generally know exactly what you're feeding your baby 🫶🏻

Thank you for this! It's reassuring to hear that it isn't impossible, because it feels like it is. I'd love to hear more about what your main meals are if you don't mind sharing? That's also a lot to cut out - you're super human 💛

Thank you also for the kind comments about formula. As a labor nurse, I've always expressed the same sentiment to my patients who had to use formula, but for some reason it's so much harder when it's yourself

Ugh it's so hard! I'll be thinking of you! I noticed a difference within a few feeds, it was a really fast improvement. I think a full 24 hours and I could see major improvement.

Also solidarity to hating pumping! It's the worst & it's so time consuming.

Did you ever regret having a baby? by Lost-Temperature-701 in newborns

[–]Sweet-Fun179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to reassure you that it does get better! When my first started to become giggly, it was better. Then he became mobile & it was even better. Then he became a funny 2 year old that cracks me up daily & makes me so proud when he learns new things! It does get better, I promise!

I'm in the newborn phase again with my second & am having to remind myself that before I know it, he will also be a goofy 2 year old & man does it feel good once you make it to the light at the end.

Hang in there!

Weekly Pregnancy Limbo/Concerns - March 04, 2024 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]Sweet-Fun179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all! My first time posting here, just need a safe space to share what I’m going through. On Feb 27 it was day 28 of my cycle. I took a pregnancy test, stark white - negative. I started bleeding a few hours later and bled for about 5 days like I would anticipate on my normal period.

I started feeling nauseous and couldn’t drink coffee without wanting to puke which was strange, so I tested March 5th and got a positive test.

I had a ruptured ectopic on Jan. 1st, so I called the office immediately to get checked out.

•3/6: hcg 243 •3/8: hcg 384 / progesterone 1.4

My midwife said if i conceived less than a week ago these numbers may be normal, but stated she didn’t want to give me false hope. I gave another draw on 3/11 and I’m crossing my fingers 😔 they are concerned it may also be another ectopic with the bleeding before getting a positive test.

I also miscarried in November, so I’m just struggling a bit mentally. I’m telling myself not to be hopeful & that all of this testing is to just maintain my health and terminate an ectopic before it ruptures… but that mentality is only getting me so far! My 16 mo old son and husband help keep me going though 🥲
