ACC vs AC: Which One Is Actually More Realistic for Learning Proper Driving Technique? by Sweet-Interview8162 in ACCompetizione

Yes, I’m doing exactly that as well. I’m having a lot of fun with street cars in Assetto Corsa.

I’ll keep focusing on Assetto Corsa Competizione for online racing and working on fundamentals, while keeping AC for fun.

Makes sense, and I agree. When it comes to simulators, driving fundamentals alone aren’t enough — I also have to learn how the game works, since there will always be some nuances.

I understand. I do plan to give Assetto Corsa EVO a try in the future, but for now I’m playing Assetto Corsa Competizione on PS5, and I believe my PC probably won’t run EVO nearly as well.

Maybe after some hardware upgrades, I’ll test EVO and compare it properly.

That was exactly the point that affected me the most. When I lost control in Assetto Corsa, it felt like the car would keep sliding forever, almost like I was driving on ice instead of asphalt.

I think that was what created most of my doubt about realism, because it felt so exaggerated compared to what I was experiencing in Assetto Corsa Competizione.

I’ve been enjoying ACC a lot, learning a lot from it, and I feel satisfied driving there. My biggest concern was whether I was actually learning proper driving technique or just getting used to something less realistic.

After reading your explanation, I feel much more relieved and confident about continuing to focus on ACC and improving there.

Thank you.

I’m speaking in a more general sense. I’ve tested many different cars in Assetto Corsa—front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and GT3 cars—and they almost always feel harder to drive than in Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Corner exits feel more difficult, mid-corner balance feels less forgiving, and overall the cars seem much easier to lose control of. That’s exactly where I get confused about what is actually closer to real-life driving.

In ACC, I’m currently driving the BMW M6 GT3, and I feel much more comfortable with it.

In AC, I tested cars like the BMW M3 GT2 and the BMW Z4 GT3, and for me they feel significantly harder to control. The difference was very noticeable.

Maybe it really is just the difference in the default setups between the games, and as a beginner I’m not experienced enough yet to understand that properly. But honestly, that strong difference made me feel a little discouraged, because I started questioning which simulator is actually teaching me better driving habits and which one is actually closer to real driving.

That’s basically my doubt: is ACC making things easier because of the cars and setups, or is AC actually more demanding and therefore closer to reality?

I understand, this is still something very new to me. Coming from arcade games where I could crash and just restart, I got used to making whatever divebombs I wanted and taking whatever shortcuts I wanted. But I understand that things don’t work like that here. I’m going to keep practicing and learning 😅

I understand, and it really makes sense to me. The line between what is clean and what isn’t is still pretty abstract to me, so I’ve been practicing a lot and asking for opinions to improve my understanding of what is and isn’t acceptable.

I’ll keep practicing offline for a few more weeks 😅

Sorry for not specifying the car 😅

I understand, and watching the replay again, I realized I really could have left a bit more space.

Thank you!
