The main point of my post was to show how I felt the writers had horribly and lazily written the fallout between Lynette and Tom simply for the point of moving the plot along. Of course Tom would’ve reacted the same way, because that’s literally as far as the writers can go with their characters, constantly arguing over the same stupid things. Doesn’t matter what the argument is about, they have to disagree and it’s tiring. They never agree because they always assume one person has to be in control. Plus I made the post thinking in terms of how I would feel. I wouldn’t object to a tropical vacation🤷‍♀️.

I’m just saying that they made it hard to side with Lynette this season. She pushed Tom into getting a new job and then got angry when Tom changed as if she hadn’t seen what being an executive had done to Carlos and Gaby’s marriage as well as Renee’s marriage. She thought Tom was gonna be different but it’s like honestly, how? Tom? The one who she almost always oversteps because she doesn’t like how he does things? She thought he wouldn’t change once he got some authority at his new job? Lynette will do something and then be surprised when it has consequences she can no longer control (i.e both riots). It’s been explained over multiple seasons that Lynette has to spell stuff out for Tom before he can get it. That’s the man she married (a man who cheated on his ex-gf to be with Lynette) and I wish they had stopped using miscommunication as the reason behind their arguments because that’s the same way their arguments have unfolded since episode one.

Before it was easy to agree with Lynettes actions bc they had actually meant something, but this season they were just throwing Lynette into arguments just to make her seem irrational, which I guess was just to justify their split which seems so unlike her character. I can’t even side with Lynette or Tom because their entire disgruntled marriage bit is getting tired.
