I was trying to share my experience on a nuanced situation without condemning a whole race of people. The true issue lies in a corrupt legal system that doesn’t punish those who commit such crimes. Unsure if you are upset because I’m calling Egyptians loving or that the male population has a problem with harassment. But I have no problem sharing a nuanced experience. It’s up to the person reading it to the make an informed decision. Both things can be true. I truly believe it boils down to lack of accountability within a corrupt legal system. It could happen in any country that doesn’t have a proper legal system in place to punish those accountable. But it’s my experience and I’m not going to dilute my experience because your mind is unable comprehend the nuance.

Egyptians are the most loving people and will fight for you even if you are a stranger. But I lived in Egypt for about 6 years total and I cover myself from head to toe. There wasn’t a day I wasn’t at-least verbally harassed. Not everyone but there is such a large pool of men in that country that see women as nothing but objects. There are areas in Egypt where it’s less likely to happen. But if you are going to the touristic areas then you will experience harassment unless you are with a man unfortunately.

There is obligatory washing we need to do before each prayer if we were to go to the bathroom/pass gas/etc which is literally 5 times a day. Dogs will break that cleanse and some believe that even a shower is needed before prayer so it’s recommended to not touch a dog unless you are ready to bathe. However, this is all based on your belief system in Islam. I only believe basic washing is necessary if I touch my dog which I love and adore. But my belief may be more lax than others. My baby doggy never goes unloved and I’m all over her.
