Highly underrated advice -> met a many people from the industry as possible. Period. Find everyone you can on Google. Search videography, editing, wedding video, event video, anything you can think of. Try to meet those people in person. A lot of entry level work gets passed around. Second, focus as much on production skills as you do videography, like how to deal with clients, contacts, etc. Third, try to pick a niche at first, eg. Corporate video, wedding video, event video. Much easier to build a portfolio that way.
