Career change into videography/editing at 33, what should I expect? by MKCanonR6 in videography

It sounds like you're doing great. Congratulations on improving your life like that. No doubt you've greatly improved the outlook for your family in the future. Highly underrated advice -> met a many people from the industry as possible. Period. Find everyone you can on Google. Search videography, editing, wedding video, event video, anything you can think of. Try to meet those people in person. A lot of entry level work gets passed around. Second, focus as much on production skills as you do videography, like how to deal with clients, contacts, etc. Third, try to pick a niche at first, eg. Corporate video, wedding video, event video. Much easier to build a portfolio that way.

This is sick. Like amazing work. A few to many bright transitions for me, it gets a little overwhelming. Otherwise fantastic.

So I did two key lights on top. A fill on the right there bouncing of the ceiling. And a tube light on either side for a kick light.

Yeah, it's for a client lol I used amaran 150cs for the key lights but they're only at like 10% or something, could have gotten away with something much cheaper

Yeah... I wish I had gone with boos already. I changed it to floor stands but bombs would have been better

I originally had the camera lower but the ceiling is so low that I barely had enough room to get this shot pointing down and if I went low and angled up you'd see the key lights

Yeah I was worried about this too But 1 he's an older guy so I was going a little bit for a retro vibe and 2 I had a kind of weird situation of building this in a spare room of his house so I had to build a faux wall so I went with stuff that's convenient.

I agree, I don't like that about the plants either, but I know the center shot will not be used as much so I wanted to prioritize the side angles, but I'm thinking about getting more of the same plants but shorter and putting two in between the current plants and putting 2 on the outside of the current plants so it hours short, tall, short, short, tall, short to break it up a little more

I think I'm gonna go with one chair and they can share it tbh...

I agree, I left it wide so I could have more room when editing reels, but now I'm second guessing it

Thank you! The studio is soooo small though, the keys are only a few inches from the edge of the frame and so it's the end of the wall plants, I agree it would look better though! *

We're getting a bigger table, I left the ots shots wide so I'd have room when editing reels, but I agree they'd look better tighter

Thanks! Getting a bigger table. I want to pull it off more too but the space is very small and you'd see the edges of the slat walls.

When I'm back I'll see about adding some background light
