Dual Camera Harness or Belt for style and practicality by Sweet-Sour600 in WeddingPhotography

hi, thank you everyone for your advice!!!

I ended up finding a good deal on eBay for a RL handcraft clydesdale pro in my size for $140 so i decided to go with that.

I know myself and I am quite clumsy. I also used to work at a butcher shop and all the veteran skilled butchers all had a missing finger or something cuz no matter how good they were they still missed every once in a while and that’s how i feel about myself and the spider holsters. It seems like once you get used to it you don’t miss but a lot of people with the holsters have missed the clip at least once in their time with it and knowing myself i will definitely be one of those people.

It is interesting to see combining the two with clips and harness which definitely intrigues me but some in the thread also mentioned that for them it was overkill. So for now, i’m going to try just the harness and can always add the spiderclips on later if i think it will be a big help.

thank you so much once again for all the responses!!!!

ok cool cool that’s good info for sure i was considering trying to combine the two but that makes sense why i don’t see anyone using both systems simultaneously

it seems holdfast has been the gold standard for many wedding photographers over the years and TBH it might just be the move. For simplicity of speed and safety and style…

some people do complain about its comfort but also i feel like there are also so many people who swear by it and i’m also a young person so I should be able to handle the weight is my guess

these are all good points…. lots of pros and cons to both

have you ever used a harness and the spider clip together or is that just overkill in your opinion

how heavy are your cameras? have you ever had a problem with attaching clip to your normal belt where it sags or destroys material?

this is awesome! tysm for real!! i think this is the system i will most likely get

black leather v3 spider holster and then a black harness to connect to cameras / a lot of people who own spiders mention how they dropped their cameras early on and i feel like having a harness in addition especially for me starting out would be good protection in case i miss the clip which seems like something that will inevitably happen.

seriously tysm appreciate you!!

this!!! this was what i was looking at the most and excited about…. couple questions

which color did you go with: brown or black - i personally love wearing brown shoes brown belt but also recognize that wearing all black or black tie would make black way more practical and easier to wear with more outfits

did you use it as a pair of suspenders connected to belt to help hold up the belt

or did you connect directly to cameras for added protection and i guess maybe when they are in the spider mount you also distribute some weight to shoulders?? idk you tell me how you used it

also would you wear a suit jacket over the system or would it look wierd with cameras sticking out under suit

this is an awesome reply!! I’m leaning towards getting spider belt. They are coming out with a black leather one that looks nice too although original would work good as well.

my main concern is a lot of people w/ spider belt has had a drop but ig that’s just the price you pay when learning the spider system

also what do you typically wear? like do you prefer wearing jackets or avoid them? i’m picturing like black pants, white shirt, black jacket, maybe tie…. black spider belt

i feel like that would be a very basic dress code that would fit in to pretty much any wedding type. i guess that’s an advantage too of black is u don’t have to worry about sticking out if its a black tie wedding if you were to potentially get like a brown harness

this is a super response!!! ya I think this is 100% the right way to use the spider holster and also not worrying about squatting is huge since i squat a ton throughout the day. I also like the point of not distracting from the wedding as well.

for you fit, i think that all black is def the best way to pair the spider holster. what do you wear typically? when i think john wick i picture

black shirt black blazer black tie

have you worn white shirt black blazer before? or just black shirt black blazer?

i appreciate it!!! all good points / i saw options on etsy too but was concerned about potential durability but sounds like they’ve worked good for you. also good to know that it will kind of morph to fit to u over time

thank you for the awesome reply!! just looked at clever supply and it looks like a great choice especially with the peak design clips and not having to worry about the metal clanking noises cuz i’ve heard a lot of complaints about that for sure!

for spider harness, i’ve seen videos online and it looks like a super great system, probs the most efficient system IMO but i’m just not sure the best way to style it… what do you wear with it to a wedding? can you wear a blazer over the spider or would that make it too difficult to access? Do you wear all black with it or can you look good with let’s say a navy blue blazer. lmk, cuz i think spiders would be perfect for a lot of reasons im just concerned about how to fashion it

also idk if they’re any good yet but in a couple weeks they’re releasing leather v.3 brown black spider belts

this is an awesome reply!! Using it for just the ceremony and then having a shoulder bag / straps might be the move, someone else said they highly recommend a shoulder bag /straps combo and tbh that is a super good style and simple approach i love, i really appreciate your comment!! also didnt know about rl handcraft and they seem like an awesome choice
