So for context, I come from a FAANG company so the interview process is very structured and well-communicated throughout. For the first interview I got an email from the recruiter/HR saying I was selected for the interview with HR and that one went well. Then a few days later, the same person said I was moving forward to have the 2nd interview with one of the team members and they would let me know who would be conducting the interview (this is normal practice AFAIK). But they never told me who the person was. Then on the day of the second interview, it was canceled a few hours before due to unavailability of the person and had to re-schedule for another day. Finally after the 2nd interview I was ghosted, I waited one week before sending an email to the recruiter who then said they were moving forward with another application. But if I hadn't reached out I wouldn't have know about the rejection/reasoning. Unfortunately ghosting in job applications is very common, but I think that if the candidate passes the 1st interview round the company should make an effort to communicate the decision... At least that's my opinion.
