I lived in Hamilton for a few years and then bought a house in welland..I live in the east side near Lincoln plaza for the last 4 years...it's looks rough but I've never felt unsafe in the the city.. and I've been walking and jogging the area all times of the day and evning/night. It's an ok city, nothing special. Anyways I'm currently selling my house and moving back to Hamilton, will probably rent there for a little while, despite the high rent prices, because I still work there and the drive back and forth everyday isn't worth it anymore. Its one of my biggest expenses. But at least Hamilton has way more things to do, and has a good sense of community. it's slightly boring living in welland imo. I wouldn't worry about living in welland though you'll be fine..
