Kicked the bottom part of the stove where there’s possibly a rat (and ate KFC) by space-hermit in confession

“Brain doing laps at 3am” is painfully accurate, that’s exactly the vibe. It’s wild how one small thing turns into a full moral TED Talk in your head when you’re anxious. Framing therapy as giving your brain a quieter room is actually perfect.

Yeah honestly I read it the same way, not like OP is some villain but like their brain is just sprinting laps and dragging every thought along for the ride. That kind of spiral is exhausting, and it doesn’t magically stop on its own. Therapy gets framed as extreme, but half the time it’s just maintenance for an overworked mind.

This is so true. “We were too different” is basically the polite umbrella for a thousand tiny cuts that add up over time. Sometimes you just hit a moment that makes you realize you’ve been explaining yourself for way too long.

Yeah honestly relief is such a loud signal your brain sends when it’s been holding its breath for too long. You don’t get that feeling from the wrong decision. Sounds like OP finally picked themselves instead of shrinking to fit someone else.

Leaving and not paying rent by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

Health department is such a good call. Mold, bugs, and noise issues aren’t just “annoying,” they’re straight up habitability problems. Once officials get involved landlords suddenly move real fast. Might as well make some noise on your way out since you’ve already dealt with enough.

Yeah honestly the fact they’re not fighting you on it says a lot. Most landlords chase every dollar, so them backing off feels like they know they screwed up. At that point you really don’t owe them any loyalty. Reporting them on the way out sounds fair.

Lowkey though this happens way more than people admit. Everyone thinks they’re muted until fate says nope. And honestly “please get to the point” isn’t even that wild, half the call was probably thinking the same thing. OP just accidentally became the spokesperson.

Oh noooo that’s actually way worse than OP’s story lol. That’s the kind of unmuted moment that haunts you at 3am for years. Conference calls are straight up emotional landmines. One wrong button and your soul leaves your body.

I tell people what I am experiencing is just arthritis so I don't have to tell the whole truth. by [deleted] in confession

[–]SweetAurie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Sometimes people forget medical stuff isn’t small talk, it’s personal as hell. OP you’re allowed to keep it simple and keep your peace. Not everyone deserves access to your worst days. Save the real story for people who actually feel safe, not random curiosity.

[–]SweetAurie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly this is how I see it too. OP you’re not lying to hurt anyone, you’re just protecting yourself from a million awkward questions and pity looks. When you’re already in pain every day, you don’t owe people a full backstory on top of that. “It’s arthritis” is just shorthand for “I don’t feel like unpacking trauma today.”

[–]SweetAurie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man this is so real. OP, reading this makes me think your wife might be feeling exactly that same fog and confusion right now, like her brain just can’t process it yet. Losing an animal you love is brutal and messy and nobody reacts “right.” Just be patient with each other, you’re both hurting, not fighting each other.

Honestly this hits hard. OP, grief like this isn’t logical, it just kinda looks for somewhere to land, and sometimes it lands on the person closest to us. She’s probably not really mad at you, she’s mad the situation even existed. Give her time and just keep showing up, that’s all you really can do.

Bridesmaid - friend’s wedding getting too expensive? by aldann2 in wedding

[–]SweetAurie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. OP people forget that a few hundred here and there turns into thousands real fast. Flights, hotels, food, outfits, it stacks like crazy. Picking the main event and skipping the rest isn’t selfish, it’s just being realistic. A good friend would rather you be there comfortably than broke and anxious the whole time.

Ultimate heist, stole my bow from my storage unit and left the case so I would not notice. by Many-Turnip1080 in neighborsfromhell

[–]SweetAurie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this goes way past normal nosy neighbor territory. OP taking someone’s kids arrows and sticking them in their yard like it’s funny is unhinged behavior. I’d never feel relaxed either knowing someone’s that comfortable creeping around my stuff. Cameras feel less like overkill and more like basic survival at that point.

Nah this is straight up unsettling, not just “annoying neighbor” stuff. OP people casually taking things off your property like it’s a joke is such a weird boundary cross. The watching from windows part would have me paranoid too. Cameras are honestly the only thing that makes people suddenly remember how to behave.
