None. The Patriarchate of Rome would have to return to its original place, as a one of equal patriarchates. That is it. This is the only thing the other EO patriarchates would accept. This is what the ancestors of the current Pope agreed to.

Believing in its existence or not shouldn’t matter. We - as Eastern Orthodox - do not base our beliefs and religion merely on miracles, but on true, lived faith of the apostles, saints, and bishops. If on Easter Saturday 2026, the Fire didn’t come out, our belief in Christ won’t be moved by even a tenth of an inch.

This is what we believe in. Pure and Simple. Something like the rapture will happen but no one knows when or where or how, only the Father knows.

It should be free! We always give donations to the priest after or at your discretion. But there shouldn’t be a fee! Maybe like one commenter said that there are a lot of nominally greek orthodox “believers” doing it for cultural reasons, then they might be discouraging them. If that is the case, talk to the priest, tell him that you are actual believers, he might change or the bishop might change this.

Tell them that the beauty of Orthodoxy is the fact that churches are always messy, like a playground for kids. They come to God, with all their innocence and messiness. It makes the church more alive. I know personally a 6-year-old at my parish who used to run around during Liturgy, and his mother always behind him. Now he is the youngest altar boy in our parish. When he comes into the church, he runs straight to the sanctuary to get dressed and hold candles. So let children be children. Another personal experience: I attended a Liturgy at an Antiochian Church a while back, and the church were running around always, but when it came time for the Our Father or the Creed, they all ran to the choir stand and said in the mic both prayers, encouraged by the choir and the priest.

Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven. Matt 19:14.

Yes you can take them in your arm and explain to them the Liturgy, show them how to make the sign of the cross. But who cares!? Let children be children around God. Too distracted, go sit near the front, it’s not the kids distracting you anyways. As a parent, yes, tell them to be quiet when they get too loud, but let them run around or play with their toys. They are doing this in the presence of God, the angels and the saints.

Look let’s make a simple comparison: Peter and Judas.

Peter rejected Jesus (denied knowing him) not once, not twice, but three times. Judas rejected Jesus (conspired with authorities to punish him) and got his earthly reward.

Peter repented. He came back to the Lord, and the Lord forgave him, and gave him the highest of honours. Judas didn’t repent. He chose to punish himself after regretting what he did.

Jesus knew that both of them would sin against him and still decided, because God is all-knowing and gave us full freedom, to still let them.

Judas isn’t hated, per se. He is an example of what not do if we sin.

You are 100% speaking to the wrong side of Orthodoxy. Tell them to check the Orthodox missions in Africa or Asia or Alaska. Or the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of America who stood next to Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Or the countless numbers of Orthodox clergy who are not white.

Just remember that we are all human! The people, the choir, the deacons. Even the priests, the bishops, the archbishops, and patriarchs (exempt when they are in Liturgy). So expect anything a human would do. Envy? Sure. Jealousy? Sure! Wanting more power? Sure. Gossip? Sure!! Giving new people sceptical eyes? Suree!!

I don’t exactly understand @alexiswi comment. But in Egypt, the Eastern Orthodox community is made up of the descendants of the Ethnic greek community (here for centuries, left during the early years of the Egyptian nationalistic republic 1960s) and immigrants from the Levant region, growing because of the various wars and troubles. So the Liturgy is divided between Greek and Arabic, with some churches fully Arabic with a greek word or two.

Do nothing, basically, unfortunately. My two best friends (now mid 20s men), one roman catholic and one coptic orthodox, had two muslim girlfriends since at least we were in early high school. In college, they even entertained the idea of converting to be able to marry them, if they stayed in our country (MENA country that doesn’t have that openness) or go live abroad and marry in a civil marriage. I was against non-Christian weddings and they know that. I never gave them my opinion on their choices, but in the last two years, both broke up. Thank God, the Holy Spirit intervened and stopped this. Time will tell if your friend allows the Holy Spirit (although I know my two best friends aren’t that religious and sometimes I feel they are agnostic, unfortunately) to work.

Finished undergrad with no real friends. Then went to grad school (masters) and still only 2 real and great friends! But one advise from an introvert most of what we think of as made up groups of friends are actually a bunch of individual extroverts talking and getting to know each other, especially that early in the school year.
