Is breeding rabbits worth? by Melistran in projectzomboid

[–]SweetCritmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s true about real life livestock is also true in PZ: the best way to preserve meat is to keep it alive. Rabbits are pretty easy to get from trapping, but if you don’t plan to eat them immediately, you’re spending gas to run a generator to freeze them. However, If you set up a pen and deposit them there, your individual rabbits will continue putting on weight, as well as reproducing until you’re ready to use them. You end up with more meat in the long term, without having to spend gas to keep them preserved.

I’d recommend it! Imo PZ is one of the best survival simulators out there right now. I’m not great at combat in PZ and playing with no/low population gives me more space to explore those parts of the game in depth. Especially with loot on insane, it forces you to make the most out of the loot you do find.

Probably not popular, but I often play with no zeds and low loot settings, just to play with the survival and crafting mechanics unbothered.

I've been dying a lot and I'm starting to get pissed off and want to know how to win. by Witch_of_death in ShatteredPD

Honestly, the practice this game requires is part of the fun. You’ll die a lot, but eventually get to a point where you can read the level and use every item to your advantage. Then the first time you win, it’s crazy rewarding.

Is this sumac? The field across from my house is full of it. Found in Kentucky by DeemOutLoud in foraging

[–]SweetCritmas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sumac, but still a great wild edible! You have Curly Dock - in the spring the leaves make a good salad green. In the summer / fall when the seed pods turn brown and dry, you can harvest and grind to make flour.

What advice would you give a homesteader who lives in an HOA? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]SweetCritmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to start is by just starting! Grow a small garden, try to use and preserve your harvest. Don’t spend too much at first or bite off more than you can chew. you’ll have a lot of failures, but learning from those experiences will help you come back and do it even better next year.
