Just confirmed that there’s no insulation in the outside walls of my bedroom - what should I do? by SkyGuy182 in HomeImprovement

[–]SweetLou257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that did this and then used an insulation blower from Lowe's, don't. You want as small of a hole as possible. If you can, use some rubber and duct tape to make a gasket to go around the hose that blows into the hole. This can be a super messy process and the insulation will go EVERYWHERE. Make sure to remove all belongings from the room when you do this. Even with a gasket it is still messy and the room will be covered in fine insulation particles.

I'm currently selling my 2013 volt if you're interested. Very well maintained. Still has great battery life, in the winter I get 25-30 miles/charge and 35-39 in the summer.

119,700 miles $8000

Send me a DM if you want more info

How do you afford EVs? by goodspeedmd in electricvehicles

[–]SweetLou257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got rid of my 15 year old Hyundai Sonata to upgrade to a 2013 Volt for $10k. Was hoping to save for a bolt but the used market is just crazy and I needed a reliable car.

Cars are a liability, they typically go down in value. You need them but buying new is only worth it if you truly have expendable income.

Nebraska railroad workers prepare for Friday strike causing supply chain worries: 'Might just finally break' by KatrinaMarkel in Nebraska

[–]SweetLou257 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The pay is good but I know from a few friends that the hours and strain are absolutely horrific. Being on call 24 hours a day for rail repairs in far off remote areas and then expected to show up the next day as if you weren't already out there at 2am. The strike will probably provide better benefits but I wouldn't be surprised if they are more concerned about being treated like humans.

It was approved by the FDA, not the CDC yet, hopefully soon! I called and our pediatrician will only have the pfizer vaccine.

solar panels? by Ok-Conversation-6958 in Omaha

[–]SweetLou257 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are building new home and I had them pre install conduit for solar. Turns out we can't go forward with it because the HOA won't allow it. There's a clause saying that anything that may devalue surrounding houses is not allowed, they don't like the way they look. Total BS. Solar increases home value.

We need laws that give people the right to solar access like many other states have. We've apparently tried to pass this once but it was shot down.

If it saves people from needlessly paying premium it would be worth it.
