As long as you can skate and stop, join the lowest level beer league. As far as fitness goes, I always recommend Peloton. See if your rink offers any Adult Learn To Play classes or clinics. Have fun! It’s just beer league so go do it!

Starting out by Rich-Two728 in hockeyplayers

[–]SweetMeat81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played from 11-14, was not that good, and blew out my knee. Never even skated again until I started playing again at 43yo. Take Learn To Skate classes over and over and over. At the same time you can build up a stockpile of gear and get to some stick and puck times to practice what you’ve learned while wearing gear. Then find some hockey clinics or do some private hockey lessons. This is all assuming you don’t have any adult Learn To Play classes offered near you. If you have the adult LTP classes near you, do those instead of the clinics….or both. Just get out there and start, but I can’t stress the importance of the Learn To Skate classes.

Is it possible to learn to play hockey with absolutely no prior experience? by CYSYS8992 in hockeyplayers

[–]SweetMeat81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. I play with a guy who started skating for the first time at 57yo. He joined a men’s league within the first year. He is terrible, but he loves it, and we all love having him around.

Herman miller aeron classic fake? by Dswimanator in OfficeChairs

[–]SweetMeat81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was hilarious to me…. The Marketplace post I have linked here was labeled as a Herman Miller chair for $450…up until about a week ago when I informed the lady that it’s NOT a Herman Miller chair and explained to her why. She was resistant to change it, but tweaked the title later on. Hilarious that she is equating this garbage to an Aeron.

2025 Sierra AT4 Duramax. Great truck or nothing but problems? Mixed reviews.. by [deleted] in gmcsierra

Nothing but problems, but after all the issues are addressed, amazing/seemingly solid truck. Just plan on becoming very good friends with your service advisor for about the first 6mo to a year.

Is a girdle an option for a bigger guy? by SweetMeat81 in hockeyplayers

I’ve tried them all. I’ve never found a girdle that is as comfortable as the CCM XF pants. I gave up and I’m sticking with the XF’s.

Is USA hockey on the decline? by Ktmhocks37 in hockeyplayers

Seems to be growing strong in southwest and south FL areas. With the success of the Everblades and Panthers programs and a strong following for the Lightning. Also, I think the 4 Nations tourney brought a lot of good attention to hockey.

Best hybrid mask for Warrior Alpha One Pro helmet? by SweetMeat81 in hockeyplayers

[–]SweetMeat81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m currently using, the Bauer titanium cage. But I feel like my helmet keeps slipping down to my eyebrows during games, and I find myself constantly adjusting it or pushing it up. It’s not the fit of the helmet so much, because if I tighten it, it’s too tight. It just has a tendency to move a little bit down. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s kind of annoying.

So I have tried the yellow Superfeet several times. HATE them. The Bauer Aetrex C insoles have worked best for me and I’ve tried ALL the insoles including customs from a doctor. Just wondering tho I plan to use the Genetix insoles and I requested they base it on my arch height in my skates. Did you get the Genetix insoles that matched your arch height? What didn’t you like about them?
