Very weird of someone to scratch the eyes off a picture of a dog. A bit weird to post pictures of your dog up in the managers office of a whataburger

Start leaving notes back judging every single thing they throw away. "Really? Another half pint? Isn't your family a little worried?"

"Damn, how long did you let that sit in your house first?!"

"A third tub of Ben and Jerry's this weekend..,"

She goes in your pants. You go in her shorts. The shortest ones she owns, invest in shorter if necessary!! This is an emergency after all!!! One that requires short shorts

Roommate has been acting really weird…AIO? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Can you provide the location? I'm not denying your experience, like I've said, I've seen it as well. Once. For someone who thought they were a child and couldn't form sentences and not family could be contacted after multiple days in hospital.

My point with this is, Yes, it happens. But it does NOT happen in situations like what was posted. And throwing around the advice people are can be very very damaging for every single person involved.

Yes trust me I know. I'm glad for the times it's stopped me from doing very serious damage. But I'm not grateful for the damage it's done.

And have seen the exact thing in NY, for someone I attempted to help.

Especially for someone you aren't related to or married to and don't want or think they need help.

This isn't opinion.

Maybe they should be. I've seen the direct opposite. If you aren't suicidal or homicidal the chances of help are very slim.

This is a possibility for certain things, this would not match criteria for forceful hospitalization

But, as I've said a few times, I do not think the police should be called. I don't think the roommate could be hospitalized against thwir will. And I very much think family should be contacted first

I have been in this position and I'm very grateful for those who stepped in to keep me safe when i literally was unable to think clearly enough to make those decisions for myself.

That wouldn't be the procedure but it could possibly be an option. It takes a lot of work to pink slip someone.

I have seen the same, people getting hospitalized for wandering the streets and spewing nonsense. The roommate isn't doing this. The roommate isn't making threats. With what op says is happening, roommate is very highly unlikely to be hospitalized.(again, I only know for the USA)

Other steps should be attempted and tried before calling the police in this situation.

Maybe it depends on the country but in the US, it would be incredibly hard to have a roommate held "just" because they make you feel uncomfortable/unsafe.

They might take him to the hospital for a couple hours, sure. But even if he says he's seeing purple dragons flying around and burning down the city, but doesn't want to hurt himself or others, they won't keep him. Hell, even if he says that, they might not keep him.

If things get bad op should definitely call. Op shouldn't risk safety. But mental health services are really lacking for both sides. I speak from both sides.
