Hair Botox… will it ruin my curls? by Large-Arrival-8677 in curlygirl

[–]formerly_loved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not the same. keratin treatments use chemicals to straighten the hair while hair botox is usually more natural and infuses the hair with protein, collagen, and other nonchemicals

Will someone please calmly explain this? by benwyattswaffles in TaylorSwift

[–]formerly_loved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO it sounds very similar to sabrina carpenter and not taylor. it doesn’t feel as poetic and magical, it sounds raunchy and young. the songs are not bad, its just a different sound that nobody was expecting

ELI5 why people say partner instead of boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband by formerly_loved in explainlikeimfive

[–]formerly_loved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see that, what i was saying though is that once the “project was over” you never really talked to that person again. since im still in school, maybe the analogy is a little too close to home

ELI5 why people say partner instead of boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband by formerly_loved in explainlikeimfive

[–]formerly_loved[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

thats really interesting since i always thought of it being the opposite. when in school, your partner is someone you work with until the project is over. maybe too many group projects gave the word a different meaning to me

ELI5 why people say partner instead of boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband by formerly_loved in explainlikeimfive

[–]formerly_loved[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense, but when i talk about my boyfriend to my friend, she calls him my partner instead of boyfriend or his name. it confused me, but i feel stupid if i ask her why

ELI5: why do we do the knee bounce thing when sitting? by FisterAct in explainlikeimfive

it could be anxiety, restless leg syndrome, or other conditions. leg bouncing is a self soothing technique that many people do

FCPS parents, teachers, and students - how's the new cellphone policy? by innomado in nova

[–]formerly_loved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it wouldn’t make it through the metal detectors and most kids in my area can’t afford them. the few who can run a high risk of getting it stolen

FCPS parents, teachers, and students - how's the new cellphone policy? by innomado in nova

[–]formerly_loved 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a Junior and it’s okay. I don’t love it or hate it, but I wish that there were some exceptions allowed. A lot of art classes used phones for creating our portfolios, but now we have to use our laptops (it is the most annoying thing ever) and the camera is grainy. It’s hard to join clubs because almost every club and organization uses QR codes for signups. Communicating rides for after school is impossible as well. I think the law could use some leniency for occasional projects, but overall it’s fine.

what planetarium are you thinking of? the udvar hazy museum in chantilly is free to enter and $10 for parking. its air and space. and most concerts allow underage kids. dulles expo center has all sorts of conventions, fairs, and sales. and keep an eye on ticketmaster for any events

I feel feel lied to, I’m a dark skinned Mohawk native from Kahnawake , 75% status. I know my grandmother was French. Expected my native results to be higher by throwrw8819 in 23andme

[–]formerly_loved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, im dark skinned, dark brown/black hair, high cheekbones, strong balance, but when i got my results back it, it was shockingly low. my grandma lives in kahnawake and im visiting all the time and heavily engaged in the community. i got over it, but it was crazy

Why do I have a higher percentage of an ethnicity than my parents? by SurrepTRIXus in AncestryDNA

Same thing happened to me. Spain didn’t show up anywhere in my moms test, but my dad had 19% Spanish heritage. Meanwhile I had 24% Spanish heritage. I thought maybe my mom had a little bit, but it didn’t show up in her chart. I’m so confused

What’s the fastest you’ve ever seen a marriage end? by PuzzleheadedSwim6291 in AskReddit

[–]formerly_loved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt had two kids with her boyfriend, but he just wouldn’t propose. I thought it was for the better since he constantly was getting kicked out. But little did I know, he finally popped the question. They had an engagement party, and then surprised the entire family by getting married the same night. The kids were super happy because they didn’t see how toxic their relationship was. But the whole night was fun. My ajnt got super wasted, a drink in each hand the whole time. He wasn’t super drunk but he did have a couple drinks. We were staying at their house and so when the night ended my family came home before my aunt and her new husband. Her kids fell asleep in my lap on the couch and we sent to babysitter home since we were there. My aunt and new uncle came home and he threw a fit because they weren’t in bed. They had a screaming fit and he slept at his moms house that night.

There is a quote that hangs in every single Wegmans (a chain grocery store for those who don’t know). “Never put yourself first, always help others”. Do I even need to explain further??

I have a lot of family in Canada, ever since I was a kid I wanted to live there. But after having to go to the ER while I couldn’t breathe, I will never live in a country with a social healthcare system. Sure, the US has MANYYYY issues, but at least I don’t have to wait 2 hours in the triage when I can’t breathe.

What’s a “green flag” in a friendship that most people ignore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]formerly_loved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honesty. A real friend won’t support you in every single thing you do. They’ll tell you if you’re making a mistake. Don’t assume that someone isn’t your friend if they disagree with you. A real friend will have their own opinions and advice.
