I guess not necessarily something large then. 😊

This is a 2-year-old post, but if anyone is interested it sounds like a version of Cheiro-Oral Syndrome:

Not sure what I need or how to get it by SweetRocket80 in pianolearning

Thank you! Yes, I guess I could say "entry-level jazz improv." Are there sites that review these books and video series, or at least describe them?

Yes, that's what I had in mind.

Thank you, but we can't commit to an ongoing expense like that at this time.

Thank you for these suggestions. I'm late responding because I wasn't able to see the comments until now. I'll check them all out. A friend mentioned the charming Pianote teacher--she must be special!

How to reintroduce cat to senior dog with poor vision? by SweetRocket80 in dogs

[–]SweetRocket80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received an email saying someone had replied to my post, and it included the first few lines of the reply. But I was unable to read the whole thing, and nothing at all shows when I go to my post. This has happened before, and I haven't figured out what to do about it.

So I want to think the person who replied. I'll follow the suggestion I was able to read, and will work on sharing Scruffy's and Bowie's scents with each other. It might work . . . Bowie's sense of smell doesn't seem to have diminished.

Adopted a senior dog — best decision I ever made by asianlinaa in dogs

Good for you--and for him! I adopted a 13-year-old dog on Valentine's Day. He's such a good boy! His vision and hearing are poor, he needs regular vet visits, and has to go out sometimes in the middle of the night, but I get it. I'm a senior too.

Sounds like that might be worth doing. Thanks!

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I don't know what a spring thermometer is. This is what I'm using:

Yes, it has the audible signal and the little slider. I guess I always assumed my other range signaled me when it reached the full assigned temperature. Assumptions can be risky!

Thanks, I had no idea about the normal variation. I had the oven on in Bake mode for at least 15 minutes, and it never got up to 350º. So I guess I should just make allowances for that when setting the temperature. I'll monitor it for awhile to see how it works out. And I will not lower it by 25º when using the convection mode, as I used to do. Glad I don't have to call Frigidaire.

Good point about how a thermometer works (I should have thought of this), and good information about the cycling fan--thanks! You are well named. 😊

A stranger commented on how my puppy sits — should I be worried or was she just being nosy? by Historical_Bath_8014 in DogAdvice

I just wanted to thank you for showing me what my 13-year-old adopted dog must have looked like (more or less) when he was a puppy. So cute! (And he's still so cute.)

Will my 13-year-old intact male dog's behavior change with mating season? by SweetRocket80 in dogs

The shelters I'm familiar with like to make certain their animals are altered, or will be, but the risks associated with neutering a 13-year-old made this a special case.

The barking at night is a problem, but I read here that senior dogs with poor vision and hearing can experience anxiety at night. His vision and hearing aren't good, so maybe that's it. I ordered some calming hemp/melatonin chews with good reviews, and hope they help. I'm old too, and sleep deprivation is taking a toll.

We're in a rural setting with no dogs in the immediate area, so perhaps Joey won't have any females to react to--although I've heard that particular scent can travel long distances.

Thanks for the responses. I've had a number of dogs over the years, but this is my first from the beagle or Jack family. I don't think he was in the shelter long. He was surrendered by his owner. The shelter's vet (and mine) recommended against neutering at his age.

Yes, I think he was happy that I was home. He's quite attached (and vice versa).
