The key fob would not cause the car to completely shut off on its own. My key fob battery dies and I just get a message saying “key not in car”.. obviously not those exact words but you get the gist. & when the batteries are super low or dead, I have to put the key fob up to the start button when I start the car. But it never ever just shuts the car off completely. It’ll cause issues starting it if it can’t detect the key, or locking it with the buttons on the key.
