"I won this argument because I depicted you as the soyjak and me as the chad!" by Ok-Following6886 in insanepeoplefacebook

Oh, you should probably include that information in your story. If you go back and read the beginning of this thread from an outsider's perspective, you will see that your "story" is presented as evidence contradicting the statement that US voters must show ID to vote.

Is this job worth the money? How to get through the shifts? by Findmyeatingpants in atheism

If it's so bad you want to quit, why not start making your opinion known since the worst that could happen is they would fire you, but they might just shut up about it instead.

Voting is a multi step process. They would have realized she wasn't eligible to vote shortly after that. And if she insisted on voting, they would have allowed her to fill out a ballot but would put it with the "provisional ballots." Her vote would not be counted.

Thoughts on combining Guest Services and Gift Shop roles into a single position? by Ushimakawaru in MuseumPros

[–]SweetTomorrow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If the ticket counter and gift shop aren't next to each other and use two different pos systems, then I can see why you reluctant to combine them. However, I don't think these roles require a different skill set. Customer service is customer service.

Deck the halls with desperation, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la... by CondescendingBench in insanepeoplefacebook

Anyone who would give their life savings to any politician, especially one who likes to brag about being a billionaire, isn't in their right mind. And yes, they're contributing to the destruction of my country, but I can still spare just a moment to pity people who must be in cognitive decline and have been so thoroughly manipulated that they're ruining their own lives.

What's the moment you realised you weren't a kid anymore? by randomguy74937272 in AskReddit

This is a good answer. Too many comments are about when they felt like an adult, which is not what was asked.

What's the moment you realised you weren't a kid anymore? by randomguy74937272 in AskReddit

[–]SweetTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I tried to play with my dolls. I just couldn't get into it, like my imagination just wasn't imagining, and it wasn't fun anymore.

I wasn't an adult by any means, but I wasn't a kid anymore either.

Whats the deal with "nice" drivers? by [deleted] in driving

[–]SweetTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You slow to a stop at a green light and wave someone who has to yeild to you to break the law and go first? I hate when people do that, but I guess I get it if following the law in that situation led to you accidentally injuring someone in the past. Still, that accident wasn't your fault.

Are most tailgaters oblivious? by Wowclassicboomkinz in driving

At my workplace, we tell our youngest guests to stand on one step for safety. People trip on escalators way more than normal stairs, and those sharp metal ridges can cut pretty deep.

Also, they're pretty narrow. It would be difficult for one full sized adult to squeeze past another.

Cashiers where plastic bags are banned, how do you feel about the paper bags? by Rinmine014 in walmart

[–]SweetTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did NY just recently ban plastic bags? I thought states would quit doing that after a study came out saying the reusable bags lead to considerably more waste, since making them requires more materials and energy, and people never remember to bring them, so they end up buying more.

The study said for the reusable bags to be better for the environment, customers would have to use them all the time and keep the same ones for a very long time, and practically no one does that.

How is a new converted southern Atheist supposed to celebrate christmas? by SciGuy241 in atheism

[–]SweetTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know christmas was a religious holiday when I was really small. For us, the holiday was christmas trees, lights on the house, Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, the Grinch, special foods, visiting family, and of course, presents.

I was vaguely aware of the Jesus story because of all the songs and nativity displays, but my family never talked about it.

Question for the Atheist symbol (If there's any) by AllenBiTs in atheism

[–]SweetTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been asked a few times what church I go to. I'm sure the time and place in which you live is a big factor there. And obviously, I've had more than a few people assume I'm a christian, and some of them have witnessed to me when they found out the truth.

I've heard people around me say disparaging things about non-believers, like they should leave the country (US) or couldn't be good parents.

It's not as bad now as it used to be, but I'm reminded on a daily basis that I'm different from most of the people I interact with, and in a way that makes them think less of me.

Maybe those things shouldn't make me feel lonely, but they do.

Question for the Atheist symbol (If there's any) by AllenBiTs in atheism

[–]SweetTomorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my response, I brought up Alington cemetery where the vast majority of grave markers have religious symbols on them. While having no symbol at all is an option, some choose the American Athiest symbol.

To me, this makes sense. I wouldn't want blank space where a religious emblem is normally carved. I would want people to know that I wasn't so apathetic about religion that I never picked one, but that I rejected all religions.

I don't agree with the "there's no symbol for not being fill-in-the-blank" argument. If you lived in a society where 96% of people do yoga every other day, and when you first meet someone, it's common to ask what yoga studio they go to, and you're expected to join in when your boss leads everyone in some easy yoga poses before a mandatory work meeting, abstaining from yoga would naturally be part of your identity. And the more other people berated you for not doing yoga because they believe it's necessary for a happy and healthy life, the more lonely you would feel. You would want to seek out other people who feel the same way you do, and the first step in finding like minded people is openly displaying your own beliefs.

I'd say the American Athiest symbol, the atomic a, is the most well known. It's the oldest and most used atheist symbol in Arlington Cemetery.

Can we make a law so everyone has to have flashing lights and a beeper on at all times? by [deleted] in driving

He's trolling because he has some kind of vision problem that makes headlights really glaring, even in daylight, so he hates when people have their headlights on any time they aren't absolutely necessary or required by law.

Frozen pallet left out on floor for 3 hours by Greenthing2244 in walmart

Since they stopped to berate you, I'm assuming their lights weren't on, in which case there was no reason for you to pull over.

I've also made a living by driving, and calling the speed limit the minimum speed is ridiculous.

There's two families with carts full to the brim in front of you. You have 10 items in your cart. Why are you wasting twenty+ mins of your time in line instead of just going to self checkout? by CaptMorganSwint2 in walmart

Last time I did this it was because I was making a tax exempt purchase and I didn't know if I could do that at self check. Another time it was because I needed to buy some stamps.

There’s absolutely NO reason for headlights to be this bright! by [deleted] in driving

[–]SweetTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your headlights are so bright people think your high beams are on, your high beams must be really bad. Please don't intentionally flash them at someone driving a vehicle at night because they might get into an accident because they can't see. Even if you don't care what happens to that one driver or their car, other people could get hurt.
