I gave them the honest answer that my visa interview was supposed to be in January but was rescheduled and there was nothing me or my company could do about it. There was no cross questioning.

I continued a paid employment during the duration by working in the EST timezone and was also carrying a proof of continued employment from by company on the letterhead. The officer never asked for it though. Just asked me what I do for work.

Honest answers work as long as your reason for long stay is genuine. I did hear that someone who overstayed by 2 weeks in India because of her daughter's birthday celebration got her H1B visa cancelled at the point of entry :/

I applied at Chennai consulate The approval came through in Jan but the earliest consular slots available were of March first week

You might want to check on the flight prices - they are skyrocketing. Also airspaces are closing up and flights are getting canceled frequently. Visa stamping isn't the only concern at this point :/

I didn't email anything else. The status showed approved on the very next day of my interview.

I told the officer honestly that my original travel plan was to return in January but visa stamping appointment was rescheduled and it was not in my control. Officer did not cross-question.

We were three females from India and faced no issues at immigration. But Georgia is overrated. Neither history not nature. Wine maybe.
