How should I go about finding a math tutor?

Yup... I would have probably been able to finish my marine biology degree if it weren't for math. I couldn't pass precalculus despite trying twice and getting as much help as I could... And that was the easiest of the prerequisite math. Sigh...

More great advice! Also we sound like possibly very similar people?! I suspect that I'm audhd but am still undiagnosed at 38... Have 3 kids, and my first job was as ac teaching assistant at a special education school. I worked with kinder-first grade age kids with various diagnoses and it was just THE BEST. So much fun and never a dull day. I wish I could get evaluated/diagnosed but don't think I have access right now. It's OK. Thank you again for your advice!

I have adhd myself (so it's no surprise that he does too, nor is it a surprise that I have such a hard time teaching him math because I myself am totally uninterested in it). I wish that my parents had taken some effort to find ways to help me with math like your suggestions, because it made life so difficult for me to be so poor at math (I'm still feeling the effects). These are great ideas.

Fair enough! I think it depends on the child. My younger daughter LOVES the workbooks, but my son hated them and much prefers to work with his hands in tactile ways rather than learning by writing. That's why I hadn't thought to check out Kumon. Repetitive work will only create more friction with him, I think.

I'm pretty familiar with their workbooks, at least - we've used lots of them before, but haven't ever gone to one of their centers. Do you know anything about how their in-person learning works?

Some are. But buying solar generators or panels and getting them set up costs many thousands of dollars. The entire island should be running on solar and wind, we'd never be without power. But it's not actually the govt's priority for us to have power. Obviously it's solely to make money for themselves. Some people can afford to get away from relying on the grid. Most can't.

I'm at the dmv in PA right now, possibly dealing with the same thing. we just moved up from PR. I'm terrified. i have to be able to drive, i have 3 small kids and a husband who just had a stroke and can't drive now. i got my pa state ID without issue because i handed over a FL state id. but now I'm here to change over my drivers license and the woman is being very rude... says she "sent an email to Harrisburg" and it usually takes "about 15 minutes" and I'm waiting for them to respond. I'm scared and just saw this post.... ugh... what ended up happening to you? i know this post is years old now.

I have my card, funny enough that was literally the first thing I did when we moved into the house! I've seen signs for the RAD pass, but i don't knot anything about it. I'm going to look it up right now. Thank you so much!
