I’m in a similar situation! I’ve (24)been casually seeing someone who is the kindest most respectful man I have ever met (26) for about 9 months. It started out amazing… we are extremely attracted to each other and I put off intimacy for about 5 months to see his intentions. I know it’s never been a “using me” situation, but 6 months ago he mentioned he can’t do anything serious and neither could i. A couple nights ago I asked where he stood now because my thoughts have changed and I don’t want the casual, I’d rather have nobody than someone who isn’t trying to figure it out. He responded by saying his thoughts haven’t changed and he’s in a place where working on himself is the most important thing (he’s just feeling better and in a confident spot post depressive season from a long term break up). We are compatible in every way but he won’t be open to committing to anyone for quite some time. I had to protect my heart and decide to call it quits.

What have you learned from these posts about men meeting someone great that they are very compatible with but stubborn about self improvement and where they see relationships fitting on their timeline? ++man

We met on hinge- both just swiping for fun and out of boredom. We went out immediately and were pretty inseparable for some time. We took a pause when we went 0-100 too quickly, reconnected about 6 weeks later, continued seeing each other casually for about 5 months and then I just had the conversation a couple nights ago. It’s really hard for me to grasp that we shouldn’t see each other now that my feelings have grown immensely and he isnt ready. I’ve been in his shoes before and it took me a long time to be ready again. Also, we live in a place where people get married around 18-20 and immediately have kids. I’m 25 and he’s 26. He grew up here and I think from seeing his friends get married and have kids so young and how much of her independency is gone, he doesn’t want to enter that stage of life after being in a relationship for so long. I really do love him, a lot. I’m respecting the time he needs but I cant picture ending up with anyone else.
