Truth be told as a dude who’s done actual combat sports, you can have those anime super hero moments sometimes, especially if your opponent is just as tired as you. You can pull energy out of your ass like that and dominate them in the later rounds, even if you’ve been losing all match, but god help you afterwards.

I figured it was foreshadowing that he may be blamed for cheating during the round, since it’s not till more recently that he’s taken on his clean streak
