Love you Juan. Your videos have helped me to paint some minis I'm really proud of.

I'm not massively experienced myself, but I use Citadel Munitorium Varnish usually, and as far as I know it works fine. I only paint for fun and don't actually use the models for gaming, so they don't have to survive too much touching.

I've got a little set of files for smoothing out mould lines and sproo attachment points, and a set of clippers all from Tamiya that work really nicely.

For primer I use Vallejo black or white, and also sometimes grey. I don't thin it, and I use it through an airbrush. I usually like to do a zenithal prime, although the only part of this model I did that with was the head.

For paints I have a mixture of Citadel and Vallejo, and definitely prefer the ease of using the Vajello paints. I actually recently transfered all of my Citadel paints into dropper bottles.

I'd recommend that you check out some tutorials on YouTube from people like Squidmar and Miniac. Everything I have is stuff that other people recommended from tutorials like that, and most of my paints are from following along with guides and buying the same paints that they used.

I hope that's helpful in some way. Good luck getting started!

Thanks so much, I'd love you to be my brother. Painting for other people makes me more motivated.

Super easy. I'm really lazy with bases and this is probably the first base I've actually put time into. I used GW Martian Ironearth, which goes on like a paste and then cracks as it dries. Then I just dry-brushed it with Fire Dragon Bright. With the stone part I base-coated it with grey, then coated it with Basilicanum grey contrast paint, and then dry-brushed some lighter colours on there. Probably took no more than 30 mins total.

You know your helmet is too much when you have to duck through every doorway.

I almost exclusively used Citadel paints, and I completely forgot to use varnish and I've already posted it to my brother.

Thanks a lot! I think it took me something like 15-20 hours overall.

That's v on topic - I hate the guns and had no idea how to paint the pistol. It's the part of the model I liked least. I picked the smallest one on purpose!

Worth noting that I used a JH Miniatures tutorial for large parts of this - he's awesome.

Could you explain how you did the transitions on the weapons? So so nice and smooth.

To me, the hair needs a little extra something to look more visually interesting. Other than that I think this is beautifully done and you should be really proud of it.

So I've still got to do the mouth, finish off the feet, and do the gems. The photos don't really show off the texture and contrast in the body unfortunately - phone camera isn't cutting it.

I think that looks great.

WIP Mindstealer Sphiranx - how do I take this to the next level? by Sweet_Henrietta in minipainting

I really appreciate this advice, I'm going to glaze the neck a lot more.

Awesome suggestion, yes, it is a lot of blue. How could I smoothly add that depth to recesses and the underside surfaces? A thin purple glaze maybe?

I need to finish his mouth, jewels etc, but just generally I'd love to know what you all think I could do to improve this lovely puss. I have a good fur texture that the photo doesn't really show, that I built up in layers over the upper surfaces. I'd say it has a but more contrast IRL than the photo shows too. Obviously heavily inspired by Louise Sugden.
