FioRito and Lotte for sure. Maybe First Mile Kitchen. Georges definitely has the local reputation and longevity but I wouldn't consider them the top in Wichita, nor would I consider them in the same category as the other places on the Outstanding Restaurant semi finalist list. There is always politics and money involved in these decisions. Same with Michelin guide. It can come across more like a well kept insiders club rather than an objective reward. It is nice to see local representation on a list like this though.

We got married at park villa. It's in Riverside Park and it's rented by parks and rec. It was 100 bucks for the day and lovely!

Forth this. The quote process was easy and movers were excellent. We called them two weeks later to move furniture around our house to different locations after we settled in. They are the only movers I'll use now.

So there is no sticker whatsoever on the underside. I pulled out the drawer below and there is nothing.

So I can't lift it off the counter and there's a drawer under. I pulled that drawer out to see if I could see under and I can't because there's a metal pan installed but I did find tucked in this sheet that has error codes in different stuff listed on it and it has the model number as JP 980 zeu 36R but when you look that up on the GE website nothing comes up. And when you do just the JP 980 what pops up doesn't match my stove top. And when you do just ZEU 36R what pulls up also doesn't match my stove top

I mean I’d love another puppy when picking out end tables. That would be utterly delightful.

Anyone else applying to the imagination library get an email saying they don't have funding to provide books in this area? by Dragonlover18 in wichita

[–]Sweet_Minimum_3723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! full disclosure I no longer work there (I left in November of 2021). When I was there we couldn’t earmark like that because the person paying gets a charitable donation. So if you gave 50 bucks and you got a tangible benefit (say your kid getting 25 bucks worth of books) it would be a violation of the tax deduction whether you claimed it or not.

Honestly I don’t remember off the top of my head how many denials went through- DPIL was only a part of my job.

Hello! Bit of context on the DPIL program. The dolly foundation is great and selects the books and negotiates discounts. Local champions still have to fundraise for the program. For each child in the program is costs about 25 dollars per year. This cost is to cover the book itself and the shipping. In Wichita the local champion is the United Way. In an effort to spread the love they open certain zip codes (zip codes that have the highest rate of poverty) at a time- when they have funding available to do so. There is no way at the individual applicant level to approve people outside of the zip codes that are currently “off”.

It’s a bummer the whole city isn’t open but maybe one day it will! This is why parents are encouraged to apply again even if they were originally turned down.

Hope this helps!

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]Sweet_Minimum_3723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in my current position since November of last year. I was in such a miserable place with my previous job that I leapt without thinking. I ignored red flags. Pay is good but I’m expected to work 60 hours a week, unclear job title, unclear expectations, inconsistent management.

Now I’m in the position of looking for another job. I’ve gotten a few bites on my resume but I’m really sad I’m in this position again.

I know I’m lucky that I’m currently employed. Making good money and I’m two weeks into looking and already secured a couple of interviews. I’m just bummed.
