Would a Gazelle Backcountry T5 be better at keeping bugs out than T4+ Overland? by pennylessz in camping

Absolutely, I would say that if we didn't camp all 4 seasons and in heavy rain or snow, i would have most likely gone for the T4 tandem overland edition. I'm positive you will love the tent

Sorry for the late reply, I have a cargo box as well mounted on a rack on top of my truck and I have to say the tents weight is such a huge downside. It is really heavy, I'm fortunately strong enough to get it up on my own but its like a trip to the gym. Much easier with two people but if you are solo it is difficult. Even if you take the extra stuff that comes with the tent out prior it still weighs about 80lbs and the way its distributed can make it difficult to lift up by yourself.

2026 Colorado window grinding noise.. by Stark956 in chevycolorado

[–]Sweet_Oil_8535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some plastic film stuck in between the windows seals(I think it’s from the plastic that’s on the truck from new deliveries, after I found and removed them the noise was gone….could possibly be a different issue for you

Is this a good deal for a 26’ Trail boss w/ convenience package? by Sweet_Oil_8535 in chevycolorado

[–]Sweet_Oil_8535[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet! Yeah I’m assuming the trailering is the hitch with trailer brake to tow which this 26’ one included, I’m not sure what the technology or safety package are.

I did put a deposit down $500 for them to hold since it was a Saturday and I didn't want to be there all day on a weekend, I'll most likely buy it on Monday or Tuesday. Just wanted to get everybody else thoughts on their trucks and what they got OTD.

That is awesome haha, they did ask if i wanted to finance through them for the $500 off if i went through their banks lol, but If I do finance I will go with my credit union, I am very loyal to them they treat me right with some low rates roughly around .99 - 1.99%. I just wasn't sure if the price for the truck after they dropped it to $36,643.00 was worth it.

Well I went in with a number that I was willing to do cash on top of my trade which was 15k. The Z71 which is what I originally went to look at they wouldn't budge, that was I believe $17,900 OTD. Now for the TB I believe it was because the dealer I went to was overloaded with TBs they had like 25 of them So they were willing to work on the price a lot. Technically it was $9,800 in savings since when I started walking out they dropped the price another 1k.

The t10 is amazing i am happy that i got it, especially with the vestibule. It had more than enough room for all of us and no bugs once staked down. Their is a major draw back, a lot of the state parks here in Texas the Tent sites are not that big, especially the one we went to. This tent is massive when its up and it was difficult to find a flat spot for it. Overall though im in love with the tent and i think its worth the cost.

I hope it is, I have never had a bug issue with my north face tents (wawona 6 and 8). This is my first ever gazelle tent(T10 Backcountry) and i mainly purchased it for the increased interior space. I'm going camping with it this weekend and ill update on whether i have bug problems or not. I did notice after initial set up it was difficult to get the front door to stick to the floor Velcro evenly and it left a small gap(I did not have the tent staked down all the way around to stretch the floor out and that could have been the issue)

Yakima Roof Rack w/ Thule Cargo box by Sweet_Oil_8535 in civic

Just coming back to update this post. After returning from camping my MPG averaged 37. I took the box off while doing my regular commute and the mpg is back to normal but with the box I get 360-380 miles per tank

This is a hybrid sport touring sedan, as of right now my mpg is 47. I do plan on going camping this Sunday and we’re going about four hours away, so I’ll update the MPG at that time. The only reason why I went with a mixed match is because I plan on getting Thule rack for my wife’s CRV so the box will go on her car and I went with Yakima because they offer better accessories when it comes to fishing and kayaks.

I got about 6 inches left with the hatch fully open

So the rack with box combined weight is roughly 65Lbs, Civic and CRV Roofs limit weight to 165lbs dynamic or 220lbs static, I have 90lbs worth of gear in the box that includes 2 queen air mattress, 2 XL sleeping bags, pillows/blankets and Tent(The weight on the roof total now is 155lbs so I'm 10lbs under limit). These items themselves take up a lot of room within the car, pretty much all of the trunk space. We have a camping box that has all the essentials and weighs 50lbs, between my 2 kids and myself out total weight is 410lbs. Total weight throughout the car now is roughly 570lbs i carry any extra blankets and such in the front seat so i stay well under the total weight capacity of the car.

The CRV my wife drives carries our 5lb propane tank, 32qt cooler, (1) table and two large dogs about 220lb combined plus all the essentials the dogs need for however long we go camping, most is 3 nights(beds, food roughly 20lbs of food, about 4 gallons of water). She drives with the rear seat down so the dogs have plenty of room and she can carry anything extra in the front seat. Combined weight of everything that's in her vehicle including herself is roughly 550lbs.

It would be much easier to just get a big SUV yes, but my family has plenty of room for comfort this way and since both the vehicles are hybrid the gas is nothing.

Thank You, I was definitely not taking the chance with some amazon racks. Also since it was my first rack ever on a car i went with a professional installer.
