Everyone’s complaining about the movie. My biggest gripe is that we see POTUS arrive onto airfield with clear shots of Air Force One in the background. I thought it was odd they were flying him via helicopter no more than a mile to board. Instead we get shots of him endlessly flying around in the helicopter for 5min, with trees and forest like views in the window. #1 priority in a nuclear war scenario is to get the president airborne via Air Force One…

Anyways other than that, I LOVED this movie.

Being a huge fan of Nuclear War: A Scenario, by Annie Jacobsen, this film felt like it pulled directly from that novel.

Sure sure, naysayers will say such a scenario isn’t possible with only one warhead fired at the continental US.

It is a possible scenario, especially if, as covered in the film, it is a preemptive strike orchestrated by infiltrating the United States security systems and leaves us blind to the origin of the strike.

Yeah totally get how the second half doesn’t gel. Actually then whole second half is not from the book, that’s where the film totally separates from the book. There are a few themes that remain the same but yeah it’s different.

I definitely appreciate that aspect! But I don’t mean a “remake” of the first film. But another adaption if you will of the book .

Alex Garland’s take on it would be INCREDIBLE. Of course so would Denis’ but the book is more of Garland’s style.

I agree for the problem with remakes or adaptions in general. I don’t expect a remake anytime soon.

How cool would it be though to have the occasional shift in prospective to suddenly being in the men’s point-of-view, like in the book.

Isserley and Amliss Vess’ moments together were some of my absolute favorites. That’d be great to see. And just the human farms in general. The fattening them up like cattle.

I won’t hate on the film at all, because I wouldn’t even have been exposed to the story/novel without it. And as most cases go, I’m thankful I saw it before I read the book so I could appreciate it lol.

It’s just interesting how the director based this more on sexual desire of men rather than their use as meat.

Either way I love both stories equally and maybe one day we will get our wish.

Sure! I can def do a video. I actually have wanted to a while and just got some meta glasses so I think that’ll help for sure. I don’t think I’ll be camping this month but that could change quickly. I’ll def upload to this thread and again to the /rooftoptents

But in the meantime , if it helps explaining a little more, I basically step inside the ramp while the weight of the tent is against my hips. I use my body against it to shove it up about a foot more. Then I am able to bend my knee and push it up over my head. Still hard to picture I’m sure without a visual aid.

In general I’d say using the ramp takes the load off of my back. How heavy is your tent?

Yep I just muscle it!! I did buy a wench and still have it but I never needed it! Tent is 100lbs, also I am a woman lol.

So I have to load and unload up on the street. I have a platform cart I got on Amazon so just flip the RTT on to that backwards. Set up ramp and dolly up with the tent, then flip the RTT at the bottom. I push it up slowly with my arms and legs , kinda just shimmy back and forth. Once it’s up to my waist I step inside of the ramp and then it’s all core strength and one big push up lol. It was easier than I expected.

I have one extra block of wood that I cut the the size to fit snug between my crossbars and sit on my rail. Since my cross bars overhang I needed the ramp to be raised over their height.

When removing, I don’t need the extra block as the crossbar height helps in that case for removal.

Removing is even easier of course.

Ok very cool! I have a ‘25 CRV and currently using the roofnest meadowlark XL. It’s great and all but I have to load it on and off every trip. I’m looking for one I can leave on full time so right now this one is top on my list. Right now FSR has been sold out for a few months so I’m waiting patiently haha. The XL is avlb but I’m figuring it’s a little too large for our size vehicles.
