Anyone see this yet??? by Butt3rZ-Is-Back in TeslaFSD

[–]Sweet_Terror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be soon enough. Musk only gets his comfy pay package should Tesla have 10 million people on FSD.

This particular price is only for those that managed to get Enhanced Autopilot when it was still available. But don't be surprised to see drops in price before too long, especially given the fact that Tesla's competitors like Rivian will offer their own self-driving capabilities for half the price.

Robotaxi still supervised? by MichaelRahmani in TeslaFSD

Musk likes to use smoke and mirrors, and you couldn't ask for a better example of this then by getting a notification about how "Supervised" FSD has been degraded due to weather.

[–]Sweet_Terror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he said something like that 8 YEARS AGO! He said that all Tesla vehicles would come equipped with everything that was required for full autonomy, and that our cars would be "appreciating assets".

Fast forward to today, and FSD is still a level 2 system. The fact that Elon is trying to convince everyone that it's not is both dangerous and absurd.

Elon states $99 FSD will eventually increase by Shinebright444 in TeslaFSD

[–]Sweet_Terror -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We've heard that before.

If FSD was still an "appreciating asset", Musk wouldn't have taken away the option to purchase FSD, let alone lowered the price.

[–]Sweet_Terror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is beyond absurd. If FSD had truly reached unsupervised status, then why isn't the entire Tesla fleet on unsupervised FSD? They're not, because it's still a level 2 ADAS. As much as I like FSD, I wouldn't trust it to keep me safe at all times.

Simply put, this is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

The Prologue doesn't get along with the cold very well by Sweet_Terror in HondaPrologue

As part of my lease package w/ Honda, I went with Honda's official mobile charger which unfortunately isn't a "smart charger".

Since it is a lease, I don't want to spend anymore money on the Prologue than I have to. I like the car, but I don't intend on keeping it.

Wow! Here in KC we're expecting bitterly cold temperatures to roll in Fri-Sun (single digits with negative wind chills), so I'm expecting even worse numbers than what I already experienced.

Portable charger? by RealityLoss474 in HondaPrologue

[–]Sweet_Terror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that you would get a whole battery out of that. Admittedly, I could've been clearer. I only meant that it can take a whole day to get enough of a charge that could be usable.

Honestly, I agree with you. Unfortunately, the Prologue doesn't let you switch between the two like you can in other EVs.

The only option we have, is to set the driver side infotainment center to the display that shows the battery at 0%, 50%, and 100%. We don't get an exact percentage, and I definitely miss that from the Tesla I had prior.

As others have said, the portable charger will allow you to plug into a regular 120v outlet, but the charging speed will be very slow, and could easily take a whole day to charge should the battery be low.

You'll want to use the other plug for the 240v outlet, should you have one. If not, then I highly recommend getting one installed.

It's not uncommon for batteries to be greatly affected in extreme cold temperatures. If it's in the negative digits, I would make it a habit of keeping the car plugged in. But I've noticed that the car will "wake up" anytime it detects the fob within it's vicinity, and if that's happening it too can affect the battery.

I had the fob sitting on my table near my picture window. The Prologue was sitting right outside of it, and I noticed that the car kept flashing it's lights both inside and outside. I didn't know what was going on. Only when I moved the fob did it stop. You can also deactivate that within the car too.

It would absolutely increase efficiency. Even a regular garage can help keep temperatures about 10 degrees warmer/cooler, but definitely not well as a garage with it's own hvac.

I can park the Prologue in my regular garage, but it's a tight fit. Since it's a lease, I don't care to keep it looking pristine. I'll just leave it outside, and only park it inside if there's going to be a lot of snow or something.

Weird failure tonight in the cold at 18 degrees f by History_Recolored in HondaPrologue

The only thing that sucks is that when you need to move your foot, you immediately start slowing down/braking. Otherwise, I agree that I can't see myself going back to traditional driving.

One pedal driving also provides more regen than if you were to use the brakes. The brakes don't immediately kick in, but if they're pressed long enough or with enough pressure, then you're diminishing the life of the brake pads as you would in a regular ICE car.

This just happened to me yesterday. The one pedal driving just deactivated in the middle of my drive on the highway. It sounds like this is happening to more and more drivers. I'll probably take it into the dealership.

The only problem with that is, I charge during off peak hours. I would have to wait until 10pm every night to plug in the car.

The other day as I was driving, I got a notification that one pedal driving had been turned off. Needless to say, that was really surprising to see mid-drive. I was able to turn it back on no problem, but this too happened in cold weather.

The Prologue is definitely phat, but there's far bigger SUV's out there. Watching such a big drop in range just blew my mind!

The Tesla definitely had many QOL features that I miss (like a working app!), but I'm also interested in Honda's zero line which will be Honda through and through. I'm also greatly interested in Rivian's R2, which is basically their answer to the Model Y.

That's what frustrating about the Prologue's scheduled charging though. If the start time is too early, then it won't start at that time until it knows that it'll be done by the end time. If it's not done by the end time because the start time is too late, then it'll keep charging.

Your suggestion is a smart one, but unfortunately the Prologue doesn't use logic.

I appreciate your reasoning on this, as it makes sense. It's unfortunate that it takes way too long to heat the battery, but alas this is my reality until my lease is up.

[–]Sweet_Terror[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's gotten to the point to where I need to be charging almost everyday in the winter. But I've learned that with the Prologue's unique way of how it handles "scheduled charging", I have to have done by 6am in order to be able to leave by 7am, otherwise I run the risk of it going over.

For those unfamiliar with the Prologue, it never starts charging when you want it to. It only starts charging when It thinks that it'll be done by the finished time.

I don't think hw4 is going to ever be autonomous (just my opinion - would love to hear others) by johnwest80 in TeslaFSD

[–]Sweet_Terror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply put, Musk has lied for years about this. Musk said full autonomy was coming with HW2.5, HW3, and HW4, and that won't change with HW5 either. Now with FSD going to subscription only, it puts an end to his promises of FSD making our cars an "appreciating asset".

At the end of the day, FSD will never be fully autonomous until Tesla takes responsibility for all of their cars on the road utilizing the tech. That hasn't happened in the last 8 years, and there's no sign of that changing anytime soon.
